In this pivotal position, you will be instrumental in fostering and nurturing relationships with both existing and potential donors at CERN. Your efforts will encompass the entire donor engagement cycle, from initial outreach to managing formal obligations such as proposal submissions and reporting. By identifying funding opportunities and securing donations, you will play a crucial role in supporting CERN's mission and strategic objectives.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies tailored for various CERN projects.
• Identify, qualify, and cultivate relationships with donors, including planning and facilitating donor meetings, events, and unique experiences.
• Conduct thorough research to uncover funding opportunities with foundations, and take the lead in writing proposals and reports.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and the impact of partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between fundraising initiatives and project goals, while preparing donor agreements and reports.
• Create and produce effective communication materials aimed at enhancing fundraising efforts.
• Assist in the Due Diligence process to ensure compliance and transparency in fundraising activities.
• Engage in networking and outreach activities to expand CERN's donor base and enhance its visibility in the philanthropic community.
• Provide support in organizing fundraising events, ensuring they align with CERN's mission and values.
• Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and fundraising activities within the CRM system.
• Stay informed about trends in fundraising, particularly within the science and education sectors, to adapt strategies accordingly.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your fundraising skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Fundraising, International Relations, or a related field.
• Proven experience in fundraising, grants management, and donor stewardship within a non-profit or charitable context.
• A track record of meeting financial targets while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience contributing to initiatives that align with organizational missions and deliver measurable results.
• Familiarity with fundraising for science and education or related fields is advantageous.
• Proficiency in graphic design software is a plus.
• Previous experience in an international setting is beneficial.

• Experience with stakeholder relationship management and event organization.
• Knowledge of fundraising CRM systems and office software packages.

Practical notes

• This position is a limited duration contract for two years, with the possibility of extension up to eight years and eligibility for an indefinite contract thereafter.
• The role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with the potential for work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as needed by the organization.
• The job grade for this position is classified as 4-5.
