What you'll do

• Lead the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures that adhere to local and international regulations, ensuring that Bamboohr operates within the legal frameworks applicable to the fintech industry.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies to address these risks effectively.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, operations, and product development, to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into all business processes and product offerings.
• Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards, providing timely updates and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver training programs for employees at all levels to promote awareness and understanding of compliance obligations and ethical standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring that all communications are handled professionally and that any inquiries or audits are addressed promptly.
• Prepare and submit necessary regulatory filings and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all submissions.
• Analyze compliance data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of compliance programs, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Lead investigations into compliance breaches or ethical concerns, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Foster a culture of compliance within the organization by promoting ethical behavior and accountability among employees.
• Engage with industry associations and forums to stay abreast of best practices in compliance and regulatory affairs, representing Bamboohr's interests in these discussions.
• Collaborate with external auditors and consultants to ensure that compliance audits are conducted efficiently and effectively, addressing any findings in a timely manner.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field, preferably within the financial services or fintech sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to anti-money laundering (AML), data protection, and consumer protection laws.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs that have successfully mitigated risks and ensured regulatory adherence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, senior management, and employees.
• A degree in law, finance, business administration, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CCEP) are highly desirable.

• Familiarity with technology and digital payment systems, particularly in the African market.
