The Vehicle Inspection Lead manages a team of inspectors at our ADESA auction facility to ensure high standards of quality and productivity. This hourly, non-exempt position involves overseeing daily operations, handling arbitration processes, and performing hands-on vehicle inspections as needed. You will own the end to end integrity of the inspection process, ensuring that every vehicle movement meets the strict expectations of our customers and internal partners. The role requires a balance of people management and technical expertise, where your decisions directly impact throughput and quality. You will act as the primary leader on the inspection floor, driving standards and consistency across the team. This position is critical in maintaining the operational excellence that supports the broader digital retail strategy of the business. You will be responsible for fostering a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment for all inspection staff.

What you'll do

• Supervise the daily workflow of the inspection team and monitor performance against KPIs and customer SLAs.
• Conduct hands-on vehicle inspections and assist with the arbitration process by applying NAAA and ADESA guidelines.
• Manage staff schedules, approve timecards, and handle PTO requests based on volume fluctuations.
• Onboard and train new team members on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and technical systems.
• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all inspection equipment and work areas are organized and functional.
• Provide performance feedback to the Inspections Manager and assist in the recruitment process.
• Perform vehicle inspections across various makes, models, and sizes while adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Utilize computer systems, handheld devices, OBD scanners, and paint meters to document vehicle conditions accurately.
• Lead the resolution of discrepancies and support the arbitration team with factual and procedural guidance.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and audit requirements on a daily basis.
• Analyze workflow patterns to recommend improvements that enhance team productivity and inspection accuracy.
• Serve as a key contact for internal stakeholders regarding inspection status, issues, and process updates.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in vehicle inspections.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver license.
• Ability to safely operate various vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
• Proficiency with computer systems, handheld devices, OBD scanners, and paint meters.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and push for extended periods during shifts.
• Must comply with all safety protocols and company policies without exception.
• Must maintain a reliable attendance record and punctuality standard.
