About the role
Carvana is currently seeking skilled and dedicated technicians to join our team at the Greenfield Inspection Center, where your work will directly impact the quality and condition of vehicles before they reach our customers. In this role, you will take ownership of ensuring that every vehicle processed meets our rigorous standards for safety and appearance, taking pride in the craftsmanship of each repair you perform. You will be responsible for handling a variety of bodywork challenges on late-model, low-mileage vehicles that arrive at our facility, applying your expertise to restore surfaces to an acceptable condition. This position requires a strong commitment to following established procedures while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced setting. You will work collaboratively with other team members to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the inspection and repair workflow. Your daily tasks will involve addressing specific types of damage and utilizing your knowledge to execute repairs that align with company standards. By succeeding in this position, you contribute to the reliability and quality perception of the vehicles we process each day.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute heavy plastic welding and perform minor metal pulling to restore structural integrity and surface alignment.
- Conduct repairs on rocker panels and roofs, addressing dents, creases, and deformation with precision.
- Complete large-scale bodywork tasks, including the meticulous application of Bondo to fill imperfections and create smooth surfaces.
- Operate efficiently within a production-focused environment, adapting to workflow demands and fulfilling mandatory overtime as required by business needs.
- Utilize automotive body repair equipment to diagnose damage and implement appropriate correction methods.
- Apply metal and plastic repair techniques to address a variety of damage scenarios while maintaining attention to detail.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols by wearing necessary safety gear, including goggles, masks, and non-slip shoes, to protect against workplace hazards.
- Assess vehicle conditions and determine the appropriate steps for restoring panels to meet visual and functional requirements.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in your workspace to support a safe and efficient repair process.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure that repair tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support the overall goals of the inspection center by contributing to the smooth processing of vehicles through your assigned responsibilities.
- Demonstrate reliability and consistency in performing assigned duties to help the team meet production targets.
- Follow all company guidelines and procedures to ensure that repairs are conducted in compliance with established standards.
- Participate in ongoing learning opportunities related to tools, techniques, and safety practices to enhance your performance in the role.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive bodywork experience to demonstrate a solid foundation in repair techniques and practices.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with employment regulations and workplace safety requirements.
- Hold a valid driver's license as proof of your ability to operate vehicles and understand driving dynamics relevant to the role.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds independently to handle heavy components and equipment safely during repairs.
- Capacity to work in varied weather conditions and wear necessary safety gear like goggles, masks, and non-slip shoes to maintain personal protection.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure clear communication and comprehension of instructions and safety guidelines.
- Must pass a background check to verify your eligibility and suitability for the position within our organization.
