About the role
The owns the complete flow of vehicle reconditioning lines, securing that production, cost, and quality targets are met consistently across multiple lines in a demanding, high-volume setting. This role maintains operational stability in the absence of the General Manager while driving shift execution and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among team members. The hire sets the daily tone and priorities during manager huddles to align the team and reinforce critical focus areas for the Inspection & Reconditioning Center. They plan a full shift's production for multiple reconditioning lines, ensuring resources are optimized and throughput is maximized. The individual guides site performance reviews with senior reconditioning leadership, reporting on performance versus targets, challenges, and countermeasures in a clear and data-driven manner. They identify bottlenecks that limit throughput and efficiency, conducting root cause analysis and coordinating action plans with the site leadership team and associates to resolve issues. The role executes process changes for the home site and, where applicable, the regional network, while training partners on updates to ensure standardization and compliance. The Senior Operations Manager supports the development of Reconditioning Leads and Managers through feedback, growth plans, and competency-based coaching to build a strong internal bench. Finally, this position upholds Carvana values through clear communication, effective teamwork, and visible leadership on the shop floor while adhering to all company standards.

- Communicate with clarity and confidence in written and verbal form to ensure alignment across all levels of the organization.
- Utilize data and key performance indicators to drive decisions and improve reconditioning line efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of loss prevention across the team.
Requirements
Accept relocation as needed, with a minimum regional scope across the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, or West Coast to support operational demands. Sustain high-quality output in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Lead teams exceeding 50 associates and demonstrate a consistent record of employee development, coaching, and retention. Resolve urgent operational challenges using structured root cause analysis and coordinated action with leadership and hourly associates. Communicate with clarity and confidence in both written and verbal forms to ensure understanding and alignment. Bring a minimum of eight years of management experience in automotive or lean manufacturing settings to apply proven leadership and process improvement methods. Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record within the past three years to support regional collaboration and site visits if required. Read, write, speak, and understand English without difficulty to ensure clear communication and compliance. Be at least 18 years of age to meet legal and operational requirements for the position. Stand for extended periods, stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and pulling in environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, or wet. Use required safety equipment, including but not limited to face shields or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments to maintain a safe workplace. Work variable schedules as necessary to meet operational demands, including shifts that may start early in the morning or extend into the evening. Lift up to 60 pounds independently, with the majority of lifting occurring between knee and shoulder height, and perform additional lifting from various levels as part of daily duties.
