What you'll do
- Execute advanced heavy metal straightening, shrinking, stud welding, and pulling procedures on complex vehicle panels.
- Perform comprehensive plastic repairs utilizing specialized stapling and welding techniques to restore structural integrity.
- Conduct major restorations of entire roof and rocker panel assemblies to factory specifications.
- Skillfully apply Bondo compounds to large surface areas, achieving seamless finishes that prepare vehicles for priming and painting.
- Operate and maintain a variety of professional-grade body shop equipment essential for efficient and accurate repairs.
- Provide hands-on training, guidance, and leadership to other automotive body technicians to elevate the overall skill level of the team.
- Adhere to mandatory overtime requirements as dictated by production schedules and urgent customer demand.
- Implement strict adherence to safety protocols while handling hazardous materials and operating heavy machinery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing workflow and repair quality within the inspection center.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and timely completion of service objectives.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of verifiable professional automotive bodywork experience demonstrating advanced proficiency.
- Be at least 18 years of age to comply with operational and regulatory standards.
- Hold a valid driver license in good standing, reflecting a responsible approach to vehicle operation.
- Demonstrate the physical capability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds repeatedly without assistance or accommodation.
- Exhibit strong literacy skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear communication and safety.
- Thrive comfortably in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Show resilience and adaptability when working in environments with exposure to varying temperatures, including extreme cold and heat.
- Successfully pass a comprehensive background check and a thorough motor vehicle records review as part of the hiring process.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and reliability, understanding the importance of punctuality and consistent performance.
Skills & tools
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency with industry-standard professional-grade body shop equipment, including frame machines and measuring systems.
- Utilize personal protective equipment and safety gear, such as goggles, face shields, gloves, and flame-resistant protective clothing, correctly at all times.
- Apply knowledge of various metal types and plastic composites to select the appropriate repair methods and materials.
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure all repairs meet strict dimensional accuracy requirements.
- Implement proper surface preparation techniques, including grinding, sanding, and media blasting, to achieve optimal adhesion for repairs.
- Understand the chemical properties of adhesives, sealants, and fillers to ensure durable and long-lasting results.
- Troubleshoot complex repair issues and develop effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
- Document all repair processes meticulously to maintain accurate records for quality assurance and customer information.
