About the role
The Senior Combo Tech - 2nd Shift role at Carvana represents a critical position within our vehicle reconditioning operation. You will own the full responsibility of delivering high-quality painted vehicles that meet strict factory standards on the second shift. This role requires you to manage your workflow from initial prep through final inspection without constant supervision. You will be expected to identify and correct paint defects before vehicles leave the inspection center. What you'll do
Spray base coats, tri-coats, solid, metallic, and clear coats using industry-standard equipment.
Blend adjacent panels to achieve a seamless transition that is visually undetectable to the customer.
Paint correct vehicles by removing or minimizing imperfections in the finish through compounding and polishing techniques.
Prepare surfaces by performing sanding, masking, taping, and bagging procedures prior to painting.
Unbag and tear down vehicles after the painting process to prepare them for the next stage of inspection.
Mix paint colors accurately to match vehicle specifications using tinting machines and charts.
Utilize airbrush tools for precise touch-up work and detailed color blending.
Operate state-of-the-art inspection center tools and technology to ensure quality control standards are met.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation to promote safety and efficiency during high-volume production.
Collaborate with entry-level and mid-level painters to support team goals and workflow continuity.
Requirements
Must have a minimum of 5 years of professional automotive painting experience.
Must demonstrate high skill in painting base coats, tri-coats, solid, metallic, and clear coats.
Must be able to blend adjacent panels seamlessly during the repair process.
Must possess the ability to paint correct vehicles by identifying and fixing surface imperfections.
Must comply with all safety regulations and quality standards set by Carvana.
Must be able to work mandatory overtime based on business needs and demand.
Must use state-of-the-art tools in one of our high-tech Inspection Centers.
Must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Nice to have
Experience with water-based paint systems.
Knowledge of computer-based tinting systems.
Practical notes
Schedule: You must be available for mandatory overtime based on business needs.
