As an Auto Body Prepper, you will be integral to our vehicle reconditioning team, ensuring that our modern cars meet the high standards of quality and aesthetics before they are delivered to our customers. What you'll do
- Prepare vehicles for cosmetic painting by performing tasks such as sanding, masking, and taping to ensure a smooth finish.
- Oversee the process of bagging and unbagging vehicles to protect surfaces during preparation.
- Conduct vehicle tear-down procedures to facilitate repairs and refinishing.
- Implement buffing techniques to achieve a polished and high-quality appearance on vehicles.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized workspace, promoting safety and efficiency.
- Inspect vehicles for any imperfections or areas needing attention before they proceed to the next stage of reconditioning.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Maintain and operate automotive paint preparation equipment effectively, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.
- Assist in training new team members on best practices and safety procedures related to vehicle preparation.
- Adapt to changing priorities and work demands in a fast-paced environment, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding workflow and any issues that may arise.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and quality of the reconditioning process.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience in the automotive industry is required.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply.
- A valid driver's license is essential for this role.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds independently is necessary.
- Must be comfortable working in a dynamic production environment, which may include exposure to various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English is required for effective communication.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed based on business demands is expected.
- Successful completion of a background check and Motor Vehicle Records check is mandatory.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in auto body repair or refinishing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with automotive paint systems and preparation techniques is a plus.
- Certification from an automotive training program can enhance your application.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship are highly valued.
- Experience working with various automotive tools and equipment is beneficial.
Skills & tools
- Proficient use of automotive paint preparation tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety gear, including face shields, goggles, gloves, non-slip shoes, and masks, to ensure personal safety while working.
- Ability to operate buffing machines and other finishing tools effectively.
- Familiarity with vehicle inspection processes and quality control measures.
