Carvana is seeking skilled technicians to join our high-tech Inspection Centers and prepare vehicles for our customers. You will work in a fast-paced production environment where you will use modern tools to maintain our inventory standards. In this capacity, you will take ownership of the physical restoration of vehicles to ensure they meet our stringent quality criteria before they reach our customers. The role requires a proactive mindset where you are responsible for identifying and correcting surface imperfections with precision and care. Key facts
What you'll do
- Sand, prep, and buff vehicle surfaces using specialized equipment to achieve a smooth finish ready for further processing.
- Handle bumper removal and installation with care to ensure proper alignment and secure fitting of components.
- Perform minor plastic welding to repair damaged areas and restore structural integrity to plastic parts.
- Complete small area bodywork including Bondo repairs to fill imperfections and create a uniform surface.
- Operate automotive body repair equipment in adherence to safety protocols and quality standards at all times.
- Utilize sanding and buffing tools to refine surfaces and eliminate defects prior to painting or final assembly.
- Employ plastic welding equipment skillfully to bond materials and reinforce damaged sections effectively.
- Apply Bondo application and finishing tools meticulously to blend repairs seamlessly with the surrounding areas.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote efficiency and support the safety of all team members.
- Follow detailed procedural checklists to ensure that every vehicle meets the rigorous inspection criteria set by the company.
- Contribute to inventory standards by completing repairs in a timely manner without compromising the quality of the work.
- Support the inspection process by preparing vehicles for the next stage of production or delivery.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and resolve any issues that may arise during the repair process.
- Demonstrate adaptability by learning new techniques and tools as they are introduced to improve workflow and outcomes.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of professional automotive bodywork experience to ensure competency in handling various repair scenarios.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with legal employment regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Valid driver license is required to perform duties related to vehicle movement and inspection within the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds independently to handle heavy components and equipment safely.
- Capacity to work in varying weather conditions and wear required safety gear to protect against environmental and operational hazards.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions and communicate effectively with the team.
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime as business needs dictate to meet production targets and customer demands.
- Must pass a background check as part of the hiring process to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Must be able to pass a potential Motor Vehicle Records check to verify your eligibility for the role.
Nice to have
- Experience with multiple panel bodywork, metal pulling, or stud welding for mid-level or experienced roles to handle more complex repairs.
