What you'll do
- Analyze daily commercial performance data in collaboration with brand leads, focusing on understanding the marginal return on advertising and marketing spend across multiple channels. This involves dissecting performance metrics to identify what drives growth and profitability in different regions and segments.
- Maintain and enhance advanced, driver-based financial models that connect high-level profit and loss (P&L) targets with granular operational data. These models will serve as key tools for forecasting, scenario analysis, and strategic planning.
- Implement AI and automation solutions, such as large language model (LLM)-assisted data cleaning, Python scripting, or ChatGPT workflows, to streamline reporting, data processing, and forecasting activities. This will help speed up routine tasks and enable more sophisticated analyses.
- Conduct deep dives into unit economics, including analyzing customer lifetime value (LTV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), payback periods, and cohort retention. Use these insights to guide capital allocation decisions across different regions and channels, ensuring optimal resource deployment.
- Collaborate with the Data team to ensure data integrity and transition static reports into dynamic, real-time dashboards. This involves working on data pipelines, validation processes, and visualization tools to provide stakeholders with accurate and timely insights.
- Develop stress-test models to evaluate how changes in supply chain dynamics, pricing strategies, or market entry scenarios could impact business performance. These models help the company prepare for various operational and strategic challenges.
- Partner with Marketing and Operations teams to translate their strategic roadmaps into detailed headcount plans and operational expenditure (Opex) budgets. This involves aligning financial forecasts with business initiatives and ensuring resource planning supports growth objectives.
- Support strategic planning by providing data-driven insights, financial analysis, and modeling support to senior leadership. This includes preparing presentations, executive summaries, and recommendations based on quantitative analysis.
- Use technical tools and AI to automate routine data tasks, synthesize large datasets, and generate actionable insights quickly. This proactive approach to automation enhances productivity and allows the team to focus on high-value analysis.
- Communicate complex financial and operational insights clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders and executive leadership. This involves translating technical findings into understandable narratives that inform decision-making.
- Support ongoing process improvements in financial planning, reporting, and data management to ensure the team remains efficient and effective as the business scales.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience working in a highly analytical environment, such as investment banking, high-growth startups, or fast-paced corporate settings. Experience supporting business performance through financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis is essential.
- Strong foundation in FP&A and commercial finance, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining financial models that inform strategic decisions.
- Experience working in D2C, B2C, consumer, subscription, or other high-growth commercial environments is preferred. Familiarity with the nuances of these sectors will be advantageous.
- Deep understanding of key commercial and customer metrics, including CAC, LTV, retention, cohort analysis, and revenue performance. Ability to interpret these metrics to guide business strategy.
- Ability to combine commercial insight with technical rigor, including discussing brand strategy and understanding SQL joins or data extraction techniques.
- Expert-level proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, capable of building complex models, automations, and data analyses.
- Strong desire or existing proficiency in learning SQL, Python, or data visualization tools such as Looker or Tableau. Willingness to develop technical skills to support data-driven decision-making.
- Experience or interest in leveraging AI tools to automate data tasks, synthesize large datasets, and generate insights efficiently.
