Marketing Compliance Manager
Job description
About the role
This position centers on ensuring that all customer-facing marketing and product materials meet regulatory and bank standards before launch. You will serve as the compliance expert embedded within marketing and product teams for Cardless credit card initiatives. The role requires a collaborative mindset to align legal requirements with practical business execution. You will translate complex regulations into clear guidance that non-legal colleagues can follow consistently. Because Cardless works with multiple bank partners, your work must satisfy the distinct expectations of each institution. This is an individual-contributor position where you design the review process rather than follow a rigid template. Success is measured by clean approvals, reduced rework, and auditable documentation of every marketing decision.
Key facts
What you'll do
Conduct detailed reviews of all marketing materials, disclosures, and application flows to verify regulatory and bank compliance.
Support new card program launches by identifying required disclosures and ensuring they are correctly implemented across all customer touchpoints.
Partner with marketing, product, design, and operations to turn legal requirements into practical, customer-friendly content and workflows.
Interpret and apply key regulations including Regulation Z, Regulation B, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and FCRA to marketing scenarios.
Maintain and evolve marketing compliance policies, procedures, and review checklists to reflect new regulations and partner requirements.
Track every marketing review in detailed records to create audit-ready documentation and clear approval trails.
Escalate high-risk or ambiguous issues to senior compliance with concise analysis and recommended actions.
Respond to compliance questions from partner banks and internal stakeholders in a timely, professional manner.
Build and promote training materials to improve compliance awareness across marketing and product teams.
Continuously look for opportunities to use technology and AI tools to streamline reviews and increase coverage without sacrificing accuracy.
Define and document the end-to-end marketing approval process, filling gaps that currently rely on informal, ad-hoc practices.
Independently manage multiple compliance initiatives at once, prioritizing work to meet aggressive product launch timelines.
Act as the primary compliance liaison between Cardless and its banking partners during program development and review cycles.
Champion a culture of transparent, responsible marketing that balances growth objectives with regulatory obligations.
Requirements
You must have 4 to 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, risk, or a related function within banking, fintech, or financial services.
You must possess working knowledge of consumer protection and marketing-related regulations such as Regulation Z, Regulation B, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and FCRA.
You must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to review customer-facing content through a regulatory lens.
You must have clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented feedback to non-compliance colleagues.
You must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
You must have a collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally with marketing, product, and operations teams.
You must be comfortable using AI tools to improve efficiency and expand the scope of your review coverage.
You must be able to operate independently without a defined playbook or daily check-ins, taking ownership of process building.
Nice to have
Prior experience reviewing marketing materials for credit card or consumer lending products.
Exposure to fintech or partner-bank program structures and approval workflows.
A genuine interest in consumer finance, loyalty programs, and credit card products.
Curiosity about how compliance can enable responsible, innovative growth without compromising regulatory standards.
Practical notes
You will work in the office 5 days each week, as this is the established operating model for the team.
This is an early-stage company with aggressive growth goals, and the role is hands-on with no direct reports.
The position requires high self-direction because there is no formal playbook and minimal daily supervision.
The pace is intense and you will be embedded in product and marketing initiatives continuously.
