About the role
The is responsible for the precise fit-up and assembly of structural steel components that form the backbone of our bridge infrastructure. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency in interpreting engineering documents to ensure accurate construction according to strict specifications. The incumbent must operate with autonomy and precision, understanding that the quality of their work directly impacts the integrity and safety of the final structure. Collaboration is key, as the position requires constant communication and teamwork with welders, riggers, and supervisors to achieve project goals. The incumbent owns the physical realization of complex shop drawings, transforming two-dimensional plans into three-dimensional reality. This includes the critical responsibility of identifying and correcting dimensional variances in real-time to maintain compliance with design codes. Ultimately, the role is foundational to delivering a finished product that meets rigorous industry standards and fulfills the specific expectations of our clients.

What you'll do
- Interpret and lay out fabricated parts based on shop drawings, prints, and layout specifications to guide the build process.
- Operate cutting and heating torches for material preparation, ensuring clean and accurate cuts are achieved efficiently.
- Measure camber and sweep tolerances on girders and beams, making effective corrections per codes to meet structural requirements.
- Perform tack welds in all positions using multiple welding processes to secure components before final assembly.
- Grind parts, torquing bolts, and operate mechanical and manual cutting equipment to prepare surfaces and ensure proper fitment.
- Produce a finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations through rigorous quality procedures and inspections.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas and equipment to promote safety, efficiency, and a professional workspace.
- Identify potential hazards and implement necessary corrections to uphold a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Assist in training efforts and mentoring other employees to elevate the skill level and capability of the team.
- Work in a safe, professional, and conscientious manner, adhering strictly to all company policies and safety protocols.
- Foster a positive work atmosphere through effective, professional, and courteous communication with customers, coworkers, clients, and supervisors.
- Understand and adhere to welding procedures, ensuring all fabrication work is performed in compliance with established standards.
- Read and interpret weld symbols on prints to execute the correct joint preparation and welding application.
- Apply information from complex shop drawings and prints to guide builds, solving problems as they arise during the fabrication process.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED. Exceptional reading and mathematical skills are mandatory. A combination of experience and/or training equivalent to this education is required. The role requires the ability to stand continuously with occasional walking and sitting. Physical capabilities include the frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects up to 60 lbs. Climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and material handling are essential job functions. Employees must be comfortable with repetitive motions and maintaining awkward body positioning as part of the daily workflow. Comprehensive vision is required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on intricate details for extended periods. This is a safety-sensitive position where an employee's actions directly impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers, and the end-user of the product, requiring unwavering attention to detail and compliance.

Shifts and Pay Structure
The role operates on a rotating schedule with a FIRST AND SECOND SHIFT. A competitive Shift Differential applies to these shifts. Remuneration includes a competitive compensation and benefits package. Pay varies according to skill level and educational attainment.
