Fire Sprinkler Fitter

About the role

You will own the installation and testing of fire suppression and fire sprinkler systems in strict accordance with designed plans and prevailing fire protection codes. You will exercise exceptional attention to detail to ensure every system meets rigorous safety standards and communicates any necessary design adjustments clearly. You will maintain strict compliance with Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites under VSC Fire & Security policies. You will take responsibility for managing materials delivered to the site, including minor fabrication tasks, and ensuring their proper handling. You will directly supervise, inspect, and verify the work of assigned helpers and apprentices to guarantee deadlines are met efficiently. You will interpret plans and documents while accurately discerning colors for safety signage to prevent errors. You will seize opportunities for professional development and growth to enhance your technical expertise and career trajectory. You will utilize company-provided technology, such as a company cell phone and/or tablet, to fulfill role requirements for applicable positions.

What you'll do

• Install and test fire suppression equipment, following designed plans, and communicate needed design changes to fit site requirements within a group or independently under a supervisor.
• Maintain proper Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites per VSC policies.
• Responsible for materials delivered to site, for minor fabrication, communication with Field Supervisors and owners.
• Direct, inspect, and verify the work of assigned helpers and apprentices to meet deadlines.
• Read and interpret plans, documents, and discern colors for safety signage to ensure compliance and safety.
• Follow written and verbal instructions with exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Pass various background checks as a condition of employment and continued role suitability.
• Utilize reliable transportation and maintain a valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record for company vehicle use.
• Leverage general working knowledge of industrial and/or commercial installation methods when applicable.
• Apply ability to read and comprehend technical drawings in daily tasks.

Requirements

• One (1) year of experience in pipefitting, relating to fire sprinkler systems and fire protection codes and standards.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to read plans, documents, and ability to discern colors for safety signage.
• Eagerness for professional development and growth.
• Ability to pass various background checks.
• Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.
• You must be able to meet the physical demands of the trade, including lifting, bending, and working in various environments.
• You must be able to work safely around tools, equipment, and materials common to fire protection installation.
• You must comply with all company safety protocols and industry regulations at all times.
• You must demonstrate reliability and punctuality for all scheduled work hours and job site commitments.
• You must maintain confidentiality regarding company projects, clients, and proprietary information.
• You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements for the position.
