About the role

C3 Ai is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers who will own the full lifecycle of enterprise AI application delivery directly within customer environments. You will engineer full-stack, AI-based enterprise applications on the C3 Ai Platform while acting as the primary technical liaison between C3 Ai product teams and client stakeholders. This role demands strategic and analytical aptitude combined with robust software development expertise and superior interpersonal skills to navigate complex organizational landscapes. What you'll do

• Engineer full-stack, AI-based enterprise applications on the C3 Ai Platform, translating high-level requirements into functional, production-grade software components.
• Develop and deploy applications that leverage C3 Ai services, data models, and integration frameworks to meet specified business objectives.
• Conduct design and code reviews, evaluating customer software applications for architectural soundness, scalability, security, and adherence to established best practices.
• Test and enhance customer applications through direct troubleshooting, performance optimization, and iterative improvement based on feedback and observed behavior.
• Deliver technical enablement by leading deep-dives into platform capabilities, conducting product demonstrations, and facilitating hands-on customer training sessions.
• Write comprehensive documentation, including application specifications, technical design documents, and operational guides to support deployment and maintenance activities.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the engagement, continuously surfacing potential gaps and devising proactive mitigation strategies aligned with customer needs.
• Drive product improvement by collaborating closely with product management and engineering teams to report insights, advocate for enhancements, and influence the C3 Ai product roadmap.
• Mentor junior team members by sharing coding standards, architectural patterns, and software design techniques to elevate overall team capability.
• Act as the primary customer interface for technical discussions, ensuring clear communication and alignment between business objectives and technical implementation.
• Adapt development approaches to accommodate diverse customer environments, constraints, and regulatory requirements without compromising solution integrity.
• Maintain and evolve existing codebases to extend functionality, improve maintainability, and support long-term operational sustainability.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or a comparable area of study that provides equivalent foundational knowledge.
• Possess 2+ years of professional software development experience using object-oriented programming languages to build robust, maintainable systems.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and executive stakeholders.
• Exhibit analytical and problem-solving abilities to dissect complex challenges and devise efficient, scalable technical solutions.
• Show organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a dynamic engagement setting.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as needed to customer sites, which may involve overnight stays and extended periods in the field.

• Have prior experience working in customer-facing roles, including consulting, professional services, or account engineering responsibilities.
• Demonstrate software development experience with JavaScript and Python to effectively contribute to full-stack implementation tasks.
• Show familiarity with Git or other version control software to manage source code, track changes, and support collaborative development workflows.
• Possess experience working with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Redux, Vue, Backbone, or Angular to build responsive and interactive user interfaces.
