About the role

What you'll do
- Conduct advanced research into the theoretical foundations of blockchain consensus mechanisms, analyzing edge cases and failure modes to strengthen network resilience.
- Architect and implement novel cryptographic protocols that enhance transaction privacy and data integrity across distributed ledger environments.
- Develop and optimize secure multi-party computation (MPC) algorithms to refine the efficiency and robustness of the company's private key signing infrastructure.
- Engineer scalable solutions for threshold signature schemes, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance for critical financial operations.
- Perform in-depth security research focused on Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) based solutions, evaluating hardware attestations and secure enclave implementations.
- Design and execute rigorous test vectors and formal verification methods to validate the correctness of cryptographic implementations before deployment.
- Collaborate with protocol engineers to integrate zero-knowledge proof systems into broader infrastructure, enabling selective disclosure and compliance-friendly verification.
- Investigate and prototype homomorphic encryption techniques to allow computation on encrypted data without compromising security guarantees.
- Create detailed technical documentation and reference implementations that serve as blueprints for future development initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers by conducting code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on secure coding practices and threat modeling.
- Analyze real-world attack vectors and develop countermeasures that mitigate risks associated with key management and transaction validation.
- Lead proof-of-concept projects that explore the intersection of blockchain scalability and cryptographic innovation.
- Partner with external research institutions to evaluate emerging standards and incorporate best practices into internal workflows.
- Drive the adoption of secure development lifecycle principles across all blockchain-related engineering efforts.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a strong, proven grasp of advanced cryptographic principles, specifically zero-knowledge proofs, secret sharing schemes, and homomorphic encryption methodologies.
- Show practical coding proficiency in at least one mainstream MPC protocol such as FROST, GG18, MST, or TSS, with a track record of successful implementation.
- Exhibit mastery of systems programming languages including C++, Rust, or Go, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex cryptographic library source code.
- Maintain an analytical mindset characterized by meticulous attention to detail, with a primary focus on security properties and performance optimization.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both specialized and non-specialized audiences, ensuring clarity in high-stakes discussions.
- Hold a background that includes hands-on experience with secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices and threat modeling frameworks.
- Possess the ability to work independently on highly confidential projects while adhering to strict deadlines and quality benchmarks.
- Have a demonstrated commitment to ethical security research and responsible disclosure practices within the blockchain community.
Nice to have
- Published research papers, patents, or public presentations regarding ZKP, MPC, or TSS that contribute to the academic or industrial discourse.
- Hands-on experience building low-level ZK or MPC libraries from scratch, including contributions to open-source cryptographic projects.
- Familiarity with specialized tools and frameworks such as EMP-toolkit, libOTe, MP-SPDZ, tss-lib, or zkp.js, indicating deep protocol-level understanding.
- Background in custodial or MPC wallet services at organizations such as Qredo, ZenGo, or Fireblocks, with insights into operational security.
- Experience with hardware security modules (HSMs) and their integration into blockchain custody solutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing digital assets in Middle Eastern jurisdictions, particularly regarding licensing and compliance.
- Exposure to Layer 2 scaling solutions and the cryptographic primitives that enable their functionality.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct security audits and penetration testing on smart contracts and cryptographic protocols.
