About the role
Butterfly Network is seeking a technical expert to build and manage the data infrastructure supporting our commercial sales organization. You will bridge the gap between complex data sets and actionable business insights to help our team scale its global impact in medical imaging. In this capacity, you will own the design and integrity of the analytical frameworks that power commercial decision-making. The role demands a blend of technical rigor and business partnership to ensure data tells a coherent story about sales performance. You will be responsible for transforming raw sales events into structured, reliable, and governed data assets. This position is critical for enabling leadership to understand what is driving revenue and where opportunities exist for improvement. What you'll do
- Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines that consolidate sales performance metrics and customer engagement data from disparate sources.
- Translate ambiguous business questions posed by sales leadership into precise technical specifications for dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Implement rigorous data validation frameworks to ensure integrity across CRM and internal analytical platforms, directly supporting accurate forecasting and territory management.
- Streamline and automate manual, repetitive reporting processes to significantly improve efficiency and reduce overhead for the broader sales operations team.
- Conduct deep-dive diagnostic analysis on historical and current sales trends to uncover growth opportunities and identify hidden operational bottlenecks.
- Develop and iterate on core data models that standardize sales terminology and calculations, creating a single source of truth for performance measurement.
- Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to optimize the performance, scalability, and monitoring of analytics infrastructure in production environments.
- Partner with marketing and finance to reconcile data sets, ensuring consistency in how revenue, pipeline, and compensation metrics are defined and reported.
- Establish proactive monitoring of data health, alerting stakeholders to anomalies or disruptions in the flow of critical sales information.
- Mentor junior analysts and sales operations partners on best practices for querying, interpreting, and visualizing data effectively and ethically.
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional experience in a data engineering or analytics role where you directly supported sales or commercial operations with data deliverables.
- Mastery of SQL to write complex queries, joins, and aggregations against large transactional and dimensional data sets.
- Hands-on experience with modern data warehousing solutions and business intelligence platforms for building and consuming analytics.
- Proven ability to distill complex analytical findings into clear, concise narratives for non-technical stakeholders across a global organization.
- Extensive background working with CRM data architecture, including the configuration, customization, and extraction of Salesforce or similar systems.
- A strong track record of owning end-to-end sales performance reporting, from data acquisition through insight communication.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills paired with an obsessive focus on data quality, lineage, and system reliability.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities shift and data requests require rapid iteration.
- Commitment to maintaining detailed documentation of data logic, definitions, and transformations to ensure reproducibility.
- Willingness to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align on data standards, definitions, and governance policies.

- Experience working with ETL/ELT tools and workflow orchestration frameworks used to manage data pipelines.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis or modeling techniques applied to sales performance or forecasting.

- Previous exposure to the medical imaging industry or a related life sciences commercial environment.

- The position is full-time, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of two days per week in the New York, NY office.
