The company seeks an engineer to assume ownership of the backend architecture and directly influence the product roadmap. This position involves constructing the technical foundation that powers complex financial workflows and investor interactions. What you'll do
- Architect and deploy secure, scalable backend services tailored to address specific user requirements and complex financial workflows.
- Partner closely with Product Managers to define technical solutions, scope new features, and validate feasibility during the discovery phase.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments - including design, operations, and compliance - to ensure high-quality, timely feature releases.
- Improve overall team productivity by proactively managing technical debt, refactoring legacy modules, and refining internal communication processes.
- Design and maintain robust API interfaces and data models that support high-throughput transaction processing and reporting.
- Implement comprehensive observability strategies, including logging, metrics, and distributed tracing, to ensure system reliability.
- Lead code review sessions, mentor junior engineers, and establish backend development best practices and coding standards.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party services and vendors, such as authentication providers or communication APIs, into the core platform.
- Participate in on-call rotations to guarantee system uptime and rapid incident response for critical production infrastructure.
- Contribute to the evolution of the CI/CD pipeline to accelerate deployment frequency and reduce release risk.
- Collaborate on database schema design, query optimization, and migration strategies to support growing data volumes.
- Drive architectural decisions regarding service boundaries, event-driven patterns, and data consistency models.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience in fast-moving, high-growth startup or scale-up environments.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or other strongly typed languages such as Java, Go, or C#, with a demonstrated ability to write maintainable code.
- Hands-on experience with relational SQL databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
- Deep practical knowledge of web frameworks such as Nest.js or Spring Boot, including dependency injection and modular architecture.
- Strong grasp of system design principles, performance optimization techniques, and horizontal scalability patterns.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with an entrepreneurial mindset toward problem-solving.
- Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote-first setting while maintaining alignment with distributed team members.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs or GraphQL schemas consumed by frontend applications and external partners.
Nice to have
- Professional background in fintech, document processing pipelines, or highly regulated industries requiring strict compliance.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and managing cloud resources programmatically.
- Prior experience with Kubernetes orchestration, Helm charts, and containerized service deployment.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures using message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS.
- Exposure to authentication and authorization frameworks, specifically FusionAuth, Keycloak, or similar identity providers.
