About the role
You will own the end-to-end West Coast private equity partnerships strategy from San Francisco and Los Angeles. You will act as the primary in-market relationship builder for Tier 1 private equity firms and their portfolio companies. This role focuses on generating and scaling new customer pipeline through high-touch, value-driven engagement. You will drive consistent in-market presence through curated events, executive coffees, and industry dinners. Over time, you will build and own a differentiated book of partnerships specific to the West Coast ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless execution on referred opportunities. This position is critical to extending Brex's reach into the dense concentration of sponsors in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

What you'll do
Conduct introductory and qualification calls with private equity firms, portfolio companies, and active referral partners to validate needs and advance opportunities.
Proactively generate new pipeline through targeted outbound prospecting into West Coast private equity firms and their operating companies.
Build and maintain a prioritized target list of firms and portfolio companies using market research, data tools, and internal inputs while tracking pipeline metrics and referral conversion in our CRM.
Own and grow a focused book of West Coast private equity relationships by being consistently present through dinners, coffees, industry events, and executive engagements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to coordinate timely follow-up on opportunities sourced by partners and ensure a seamless customer experience.
Represent Brex at industry conferences, firm-hosted events, and partner meetings to strengthen our brand and credibility in the market.
Develop and execute co-marketing and value-add programs tailored to the needs of private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
Track and report on key performance indicators including pipeline generation, meeting velocity, and conversion metrics to optimize outreach strategies.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Brex within assigned private equity relationships, ensuring responsiveness and trusted advisor status.
Continuously refine your playbook based on market feedback, competitive insights, and engagement outcomes to improve efficiency and impact.
Requirements
You must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
You must have at least three years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales within the financial services or technology sectors.
You must have at least two years of experience specifically engaging with private equity firms, their portfolio companies, or service providers to those segments.
You must be able to demonstrate a track record of building and managing relationships with C-level stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
You must be comfortable operating in a matrixed organization and aligning with cross-functional teams to advance shared objectives.
You must be proficient in using CRM tools to manage pipeline, document interactions, and maintain accurate forecasting.
You must be willing to travel within the San Francisco Bay Area and to Los Angeles for in-person meetings and events.
You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for this position.
Nice to have
Experience working with investors or operators in the technology, fintech, or professional services verticals.
Familiarity with Brex products and how they are used by growth-stage companies.
Practical notes
This role requires a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, specifically Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Up to four weeks of fully remote work per year may be available as a perk, subject to business needs and team agreements.
