About the role
This role centers on designing and delivering scalable backend services for a digital asset infrastructure platform. You will build and maintain API-first components that enable custody, wallets, and trading capabilities. The work operates within regulated environments and supports global institutional and developer users. You will own the full lifecycle of backend services, from initial requirements gathering through design, implementation, and on-call responsibilities. The position requires close collaboration with product, security, and operations teams to ensure solutions meet business and compliance needs. You will translate complex product requirements into robust, production-grade systems that handle real-world traffic and edge cases. Success in this role is measured by the reliability, performance, and maintainability of the services you ship.

What you'll do
Architect and implement scalable APIs, libraries, and services that form the core of an API-first platform.
Take end-to-end ownership of features from initial conception through deployment and integration with customer workflows.
Make functionality discoverable and understandable for UI teams, external developers, and internal and external tooling.
Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate concepts into shipped features.
Produce clean, maintainable, and efficient code that meets enterprise standards.
Safeguard application performance, quality, and responsiveness under production loads.
Locate performance constraints and resolve defects in distributed services.
Mentor peers by sharing knowledge and best practices during reviews and collaborative sessions.
Align closely with cross-functional partners to refine requirements and delivery schedules.
Implement solutions that adhere to security best practices and regulatory requirements for digital asset custody.
Collaborate with SRE and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and observability of backend services.
Drive improvements to development workflows, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines for backend components.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies and patterns that improve the reliability and developer experience of the platform.
Contribute to technical documentation and design artifacts that enable long-term maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Demonstrate at least 3+ years of backend and server-side development experience.
Apply strong skills in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis for backend systems.
Show strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Apply solid knowledge of RESTful API design patterns and principles.
Bring experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures in production environments.
Use unit and functional testing practices and debug distributed systems effectively.
Work with Git/GitHub, branching strategies, code review tools, and CI pipelines.
Adapt quickly and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or another technical discipline from a top university.
Maintain a strong interest in and understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
Demonstrate strong ownership and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Have a proven track record of delivering software that is reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
Nice to have
Have experience building consumer-facing crypto products and public-facing APIs in production.
Work full-stack with familiarity in React.
Collaborate with clients and business partners.
Know digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, and accounting systems.
