Associate General Counsel

About the role

You will formulate and execute the regional legal strategy for APAC, ensuring alignment with BitGo's global business objectives and long-term growth targets. You will serve as the primary legal advisor to the APAC leadership team, providing counsel on high-stakes commercial ventures, partnerships, and regional expansion initiatives. You will oversee corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and government relations across all applicable APAC jurisdictions with diligence and foresight. You will guide the regional team through complex multijurisdictional regulatory landscapes, including data privacy, financial services, and digital asset-specific frameworks. You will manage disputes, employment matters, and corporate transactions within the region, coordinating seamlessly with external counsel when necessary. You will recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing, cross-functional team of legal professionals across regional hubs to ensure consistent standards. You will drive the commercialization of legal operations by implementing efficient processes and scalable frameworks to support rapid business development. You will act as a critical liaison between regional stakeholders and global leadership to ensure cohesive strategy execution and risk mitigation.

• Provide clear, timely, and actionable legal analysis that balances strict compliance requirements with the need for agile business execution.

Requirements

You must be a professionally qualified lawyer in Singapore or another major common law jurisdiction with top academic records and a strong intellectual foundation. You must possess a minimum of twelve years of in-house experience leading regional legal matters, demonstrating depth and breadth of responsibility. You must have deep knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscapes across key APAC markets, including Southeast Asia, Australia, and Greater China, with an understanding of jurisdictional nuances. You must have a proven ability to manage distributed legal teams and operate effectively within complex multijurisdictional environments. You must exhibit outstanding commercial judgment, balancing strict legal compliance against rapid business development and innovation imperatives. You must have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to connect regional operations with global strategy and foster cross-functional collaboration. You must demonstrate resilience and integrity in navigating high-pressure situations, regulatory scrutiny, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You must be comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a globally integrated legal function with standardized processes and reporting protocols.

Nice to have

Preferred candidates will have prior experience in digital asset, blockchain, or cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks within an APAC context. Experience advising technology companies or high-growth startups in regulated sectors will be viewed favorably. Familiarity with employment law complexities in multiple APAC jurisdictions will be considered an advantage. Demonstrated success in building and scaling legal departments in emerging markets will strengthen the candidate's profile.

Practical notes

The engagement is full-time, and the work location is North West, Singapore. This role requires significant travel across APAC jurisdictions to engage with stakeholders, attend regulatory meetings, and support regional initiatives. Candidates must be willing to comply with visa and immigration requirements as applicable to the jurisdiction of assignment. Deadlines for submission of supporting documentation and background verification will be coordinated with shortlisted candidates.
