Security Engineer (Golang)
Job description
About the role
Join the security team at the world largest cryptocurrency exchange to build the infrastructure that protects millions of users. You will develop custom security platforms and automated systems to safeguard our global blockchain ecosystem. In this capacity, you will own the design and execution of security initiatives that directly impact the reliability of trading infrastructure. You will act as a hands-on engineer who writes production code to solve complex security challenges on a massive scale. The role requires you to translate ambiguous security requirements into robust technical implementations using modern programming languages. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure security is embedded into every stage of the development lifecycle. Your work will establish the foundation for secure operations across distributed systems and cloud environments.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain security applications and services using Golang and Python, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Create internal security platforms and custom tooling from the ground up to address emerging threats and operational gaps.
- Build and manage security APIs and system integrations that enable secure communication between services.
- Automate security reviews, alert systems, and the detection of configuration errors to reduce manual overhead and human risk.
- Integrate AI-driven security features into our existing stack to enhance detection capabilities and response times.
- Design secure cloud architectures within AWS, implementing controls that align with industry best practices and compliance standards.
- Enforce IAM least-privilege models, secrets management via Vault, SSM, or Sealed Secrets, and private networking configurations to minimize exposure.
- Secure CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure artifact signing and immutable builds that support rapid and safe deployments.
- Manage vulnerability scanning, including SAST, DAST, SBOM, and container image analysis, to identify and remediate weaknesses early.
- Balance developer speed with risk management by defining automated security gates that enforce policy without slowing delivery.
- Monitor runtime environments to prevent abuse and detect suspicious behavior, enabling quick identification of potential incidents.
- Conduct threat modeling and provide design guidance to internal engineering teams to embed security from the outset.
- Participate in incident response, post-mortem analysis, and technical investigations to drive improvements in security posture.
- Contribute to the development of security standards and best practices that scale across global engineering organizations.
Requirements
- Proven background in Platform, Infrastructure, or Cloud Security with a track record of securing large-scale systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Golang and Python for building production-grade software that operates reliably in critical environments.
- Experience developing security-focused applications and platforms that meet strict operational and security requirements.
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices and design patterns that ensure maintainable and testable codebases.
- Ability to influence engineering teams through clear communication, translating technical concepts into actionable guidance.
- Experience working in high-velocity production environments where uptime, performance, and security are equally critical.
- An automation-first approach to security rather than manual processes, emphasizing efficiency and consistency.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, and network security fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team across time zones.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new security threats, tooling, and technologies.
- Willingness to follow established security policies and procedures while contributing to their evolution.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines and operational pressure.
- Professional attitude toward problem-solving, with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term resilience.
