About the role
We are looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial leader to join BillionToOne as the Head of Strategic Pharma Partnerships in Oncology. This on-site position will be based at our location and will focus on establishing and nurturing meaningful partnerships with pharmaceutical companies. The role involves exploring innovative opportunities within the precision diagnostics and oncology sectors, leveraging your expertise in business development, product exploration, and strategic alliance building. You will play a key role in identifying new applications for our oncology liquid biopsy solutions, working closely with internal teams to validate and develop these opportunities, and ensuring alignment with our overall business objectives. Key facts
What you'll do
- Identify, approach, and engage with pharmaceutical companies to establish strategic partnerships that support the growth and expansion of BillionToOne's oncology product portfolio.
- Lead negotiations and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals and deliver mutual value.
- Represent BillionToOne at industry conferences, trade shows, and other relevant events to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including R&D, Clinical, and AI, to explore new product opportunities and validate their feasibility and potential impact in the oncology diagnostics space.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for pharmaceutical clients, understanding their needs, challenges, and priorities, and translating these insights into actionable product development strategies.
- Work jointly with internal teams to co-develop solutions that address unmet needs in oncology diagnostics, ensuring that product offerings are aligned with market demands and technological capabilities.
- Coordinate with Clinical and R&D teams to ensure technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and smooth execution of partnership projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams to structure, negotiate, and finalize deal terms, including licensing agreements, collaborations, and other partnership contracts.
- Maintain a continuous feedback loop with internal stakeholders to refine product concepts, improve partnership strategies, and enhance overall success rates of collaborations.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify new partnership opportunities and stay ahead of market developments.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for partnership growth, including setting targets, KPIs, and timelines to measure success and impact.
- Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership on partnership activities, progress, and strategic insights.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or product management within the precision diagnostics, life sciences, or related sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully closing complex agreements and collaborations with pharmaceutical companies or similar organizations.
- Strong knowledge of oncology diagnostics, liquid biopsy technologies, and the broader landscape of precision medicine.
- Ability to translate scientific and technical concepts into compelling business cases and partnership opportunities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation, product development, and customer success.
- Strategic thinker capable of executing initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for partner meetings, industry events, and site visits.

Practical notes
This position offers a total annual compensation ranging from $397,170 to $400,402, which includes a base salary between $242,881 and $264,002. BillionToOne provides a comprehensive benefits package, including various medical plans, generous parental leave, and a retirement savings plan with a 4% company match. The role requires on-site presence at our location, and travel up to 25% may be necessary for partner engagement and industry events.
