We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to join BillionToOne as the Senior Director of Software Product Management and Product Engineering. In this critical role, you will oversee the development, management, and scaling of our software solutions across oncology and prenatal diagnostics. You will be responsible for leading both product management and engineering teams to deliver innovative, high-quality software platforms that meet the needs of healthcare providers, patients, and internal stakeholders. What you'll do
- Lead and manage the Software Product Management and Software Product Engineering teams, providing strategic direction and operational oversight for software solutions in oncology and prenatal diagnostics.
- Develop and implement comprehensive product strategies for software platforms, including provider portals, patient portals, and internal operational tools, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
- Drive an AI-first approach in product development and engineering, promoting the integration of modern AI technologies to improve software functionality, user experience, and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging AI capabilities into existing and new customer-facing products, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of technological innovation in molecular diagnostics.
- Collaborate closely with Clinical Product, Data Science, Bioinformatics, IT/IS, Operations, and Commercial teams to develop innovative software solutions that support clinical workflows and enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Manage and mentor engineering managers and software engineering teams focused on architecture, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable, reliable software systems.
- Establish and refine product and engineering processes to ensure high-quality software delivery, including agile methodologies, quality assurance, and continuous improvement practices.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-centric culture that emphasizes ownership, speed, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Serve as the primary expert on customer workflows and user experience across various software systems, ensuring that products are intuitive, efficient, and meet the needs of end-users.
- Lead efforts to incorporate AI-driven features into products, ensuring that the solutions are innovative, effective, and compliant with industry standards.
- Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technological advancements, including AI and machine learning integrations.
- Act as a key stakeholder in strategic planning, resource allocation, and budget management for software development initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in discussions with partners and customers to promote our software solutions and technological leadership.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and ITAR requirements, maintaining high standards of data security and privacy.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in software product management, software engineering, or related leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing complex software products from conception to deployment.
- Demonstrated success in leading and scaling software engineering teams, including managing engineering managers and senior developers.
- Extensive experience in developing customer-facing software platforms, such as portals and operational tools, preferably within healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences industries.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, platform development, scalability, and engineering trade-offs.
- Proven ability to develop and execute product strategies that incorporate AI technologies and drive innovation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate strategically while being hands-on and detail-oriented when necessary.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with rapid iteration cycles and evolving priorities.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to healthcare and diagnostics, including ITAR compliance.
- Strong analytical skills to assess product performance, user experience, and operational metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

BillionToOne offers a competitive total annual compensation package that can reach up to $580,140. This includes a base salary ranging from $257,243 to $300,117, along with equity options and a corporate bonus program.
