The Watermark Hotel currently has an opening for a General Maintenance Engineer. This role is ideal for individuals who prefer practical tasks and possess a genuine desire to assist guests.
Position Overview
This role reports to the Chief Engineer within the B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group framework. The primary focus involves providing technical assistance across engineering operations. Key responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of hotel property, outside grounds, and hotel equipment. The position holder will also engage in preventative maintenance initiatives and asset protection efforts. Success in this role requires adherence to the company's established high standards of quality. The ultimate goal is to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Execution
- The incumbent will learn and demonstrate proficiency in maintaining property assets. Collaboration with the Chief Engineer is essential to understand preventive maintenance schedules, equipment repair protocols, routine inspections, and capital expenditure planning. It is vital to comprehend how preserving company assets contributes to the financial performance of the hotel.
2. Guest Service Excellence
- The engineer will assist guest requests in a friendly and proactive manner. Providing a high level of service is mandatory. This includes using knowledge of the hotel property, guest room repairs, and common area maintenance to help guests. Setting a strong example for other team members through outstanding service is a core expectation.
3. Problem Identification and Resolution
- The position requires assessing and evaluating property assets through preventative maintenance activities. The engineer will work with appropriate managers in a respectful and courageous manner. The objective is to recommend effective maintenance service solutions.
4. Standard Operating Procedure Compliance
- Adherence to B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group standard operating procedures is mandatory. The engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to learn, understand, and execute all engineering SOPs accurately.
5. Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Success requires working effectively as a team player. The engineer will meet guest needs and actively contribute to the efforts of other departments when necessary. The role involves completing all assigned duties, whether inside or outside the normal scope of the engineering department.
6. Workplace Safety
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area is critical. Compliance with B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group, brand, local, state, and federal regulations is required. The proper use of personal protective equipment is mandatory when necessary. Following all company procedures for guest and associate incidents is essential. Knowledge of hotel emergency procedures is required.
7. Self-Management
- The engineer must produce the required volume of work. This involves planning, organizing, and prioritizing duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer. Adherence to the company attendance policy, general work rules, and department procedures is expected. Attendance at all required department and hotel meetings is mandatory.
Qualifications
Candidates must be willing to undergo training covering maintenance, repair, and preventive strategies for hotel assets. An understanding of how guest room repairs impact hotel financial success is essential. Strict compliance with safety rules for work areas, protective equipment, and incident reporting is non-negotiable.
