About the role
You will architect and implement the mobile user interface layer using React Native and TypeScript for the Betr Super App ecosystem. This position grants ownership over the entire feature lifecycle from initial discovery through deployment and monitoring of Sportsbook, Social Sweepstakes Sportsbook, Arcade, and Casino products. You will translate complex product requirements into robust, high-performance mobile interfaces that meet strict regulatory standards. The role demands close collaboration with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver polished user experiences. You will work directly with real-time data streams to ensure the interface reacts instantly to live events. This position is responsible for building the visual fidelity and interactive behaviors that define the Betr brand on mobile devices. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of real money gaming experiences for users across multiple US states.

What you'll do
Architect and maintain the component library in React Native and TypeScript to ensure consistency and reusability across the Sportsbook, Social Sweepstakes Sportsbook, Arcade, and Casino products.
Integrate and optimize WebSocket connections to handle real-time data feeds, ensuring the mobile interface updates instantly without performance degradation.
Develop hardware-accelerated graphics and physics-based animations to create immersive and engaging user interactions within the mobile application.
Implement responsive and adaptive UI designs that function flawlessly across various iOS and Android device form factors and screen sizes.
Collaborate with designers to convert static mockups into dynamic, functional interfaces that adhere to strict brand guidelines and usability standards.
Write clean, testable, and efficient code that facilitates rapid iteration while maintaining long-term codebase stability and scalability.
Debug complex issues in production environments by analyzing logs, reproducing edge cases, and applying fixes with minimal disruption to users.
Partner with backend engineers to define API contracts and ensure seamless data synchronization between the mobile client and server infrastructure.
Champion mobile performance optimization techniques to reduce load times, minimize memory usage, and enhance the overall user experience.
Contribute to the strategic technical roadmap by evaluating new tools, libraries, and frameworks that can improve development velocity and product quality.
Ensure all implemented features comply with legal and regulatory requirements specific to the jurisdictions of the multiple US states where Betr operates.
Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers to elevate the entire mobile team's engineering standards and best practices.
Proactively identify and mitigate technical debt to maintain a healthy and sustainable codebase for long-term project success.
Act as a technical owner for specific features, driving them from initial concept through to launch and post-launch iteration based on user feedback.
Requirements
You must have a proven track record of building mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript in a professional setting.
Candidates must possess strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, including modern ECMAScript standards and asynchronous programming patterns.
You should demonstrate a deep understanding of React Native architecture, including the interaction between JavaScript and native modules.
Experience with iOS development using Swift or Objective-C is highly valuable, and knowledge of Android development using Kotlin or Java is equally important.
A solid grasp of state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or MobX is essential for managing complex application states.
You must be familiar with integrating and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints to fetch and manipulate data.
Knowledge of animation libraries and physics engines used in gaming contexts is a critical requirement for success in this role.
You should have experience working with version control systems, specifically Git, and be comfortable with collaborative development workflows.
Nice to have
Experience with real money gaming environments or regulated industries is a significant advantage for understanding the compliance landscape.
Familiarity with performance profiling tools and techniques specific to mobile devices will help in optimizing resource-intensive applications.
Understanding of security best practices for handling sensitive user data and financial transactions within mobile applications is preferred.

Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in Canada.
The role requires the ability to obtain necessary security clearances and comply with Betr's internal policies and procedures.
Travel may be required for team meetings, company events, or industry conferences as determined by management.
