Software Engineering Intern
Job description
Software Engineering Intern at Beacon Software.
About the role
You will write production-grade code that directly powers Beacon's operator-facing platform and internal tools. You will own features that ingest data from 25+ portfolio companies and turn that data into actionable insights. You will build and ship LLM-powered workflows that the operating team uses every day to run and grow their businesses. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, including the CTO and Staff Engineers, on system design, code review, and technical tradeoffs. You will pair with operators to translate their needs into reliable software solutions that survive contact with real data. The internship is designed to give you end-to-end ownership of meaningful work that is checked into production and used by real customers.

- Pair with the operations team to deeply understand their problems before writing a single line of code.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable software that runs reliably in production environments.
- Contribute to the feature store and data pipelines that make portco data agent-readable across the sensing layer.
- Help define and implement the feedback loop that captures actions and outcomes using stable identifiers for portfolio analytics.
- Participate in scoping and prioritizing work that balances product needs, technical debt, and operational constraints.
- Represent the intern perspective in engineering meetings and contribute to the roadmap for both Beacon HQ and portco products.
Requirements

- Willingness to learn from anyone on the team and to iterate based on feedback from senior engineers.
Nice to have
- Prior co-op or internship experience shipping production software.
