About the role
You will own the complete investment thesis for prospective acquisitions, translating ambiguous market signals into rigorous investment arguments that define Beacon's strategy. You will source, evaluate, and execute acquisitions across diverse vertical software markets, acting as the primary investor and operator liaison from initial outreach through to long term portfolio ownership. This role requires you to build and scale AI-native tooling that supports M&A agents, integrating technology directly into the investment workflow to enhance deal execution and portfolio performance. You will collaborate closely with Beacon leadership to refine investment philosophies, capital allocation plans, and sector specific theses that guide the holding company vision. A core part of your work involves presenting acquisition opportunities and detailed financial models to stakeholders, ensuring that every recommendation is backed by comprehensive diligence and clear reasoning. You will lead end to end deal processes, overseeing financial, operational, commercial, product, and technical diligence with full autonomy to drive transactions forward. Finally, you will manage relationships with founders and stakeholders, guiding acquired businesses through smooth transitions and supporting their ongoing growth within the Beacon ecosystem.

What you'll do
- Source and originate investment opportunities by mapping target vertical software markets and identifying overlooked, founder built businesses with strong customer relationships.
- Conduct deep industry and competitive analysis to form hypotheses about market structure, consolidation potential, and sustainable competitive advantages.
- Build detailed financial models, scenario analyses, and valuation frameworks to assess acquisition targets and support negotiation strategies.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to evaluate technology stacks, data infrastructure, and AI readiness of potential acquisition candidates.
- Lead end to end due diligence covering financial, operational, commercial, product, and technical dimensions with full decision autonomy.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to design integration playbooks that preserve value and align incentives post acquisition.
- Develop and maintain relationships with founders, management teams, and board members to understand strategic objectives and timing.
- Present clear investment recommendations and rationales to Beacon leadership, using quantitative and qualitative insights to guide capital allocation.
- Manage the portfolio oversight of existing Beacon software holdings, identifying cross portfolio synergies and value creation opportunities.
- Define and track key performance indicators for investments, ensuring that growth initiatives are measured and iterated upon effectively.
- Work directly with Silicon Valley product and engineering teams to assess technology driven value creation streams and integration feasibility.
- Operate within an environment that encourages initiative, enabling rapid development of investment theses and execution playbooks.
- Strengthen interpersonal and presentation skills through frequent interactions with stakeholders at all levels of target companies and investors.
- Translate high level strategic objectives into actionable work plans, timelines, and resource allocations for each deal stream.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines in a fast paced setting.
- Maintain extremely organized workflows, documentation, and decision trails to support transparency and repeatable processes.
Requirements
- You are a seasoned M&A and or investment professional with 6+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investment banking, corporate development or strategic finance.
- You are a strategic thinker who can identify growth opportunities and contribute to Beacon's long term vision of building a generational software holding company.
- You have proven experience leading and closing M&A transactions, with a deep understanding of the full deal cycle from sourcing to integration.
- You are an agile generalist, comfortable working in a fast paced environment and managing multiple deals across various industries simultaneously.
- You hold a strong academic record from a competitive institution with a degree in Business or Finance.
- You have a deep interest in technology and learning about different businesses across diverse industries.
- You possess familiarity with a buy and build model and experience or knowledge in VMS, software, and technology is a plus.
- You demonstrate a strong ability to synthesize complex systems and extract actionable insights from ambiguous information.
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the company and target organizations.
- You are able to translate high level objectives into actionable work plans and strategies that drive execution.
- You show high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to tight deadlines.
- You are extremely organized in your approach to work, maintaining clarity and structure in complex situations.
