What you'll do

• Conduct detailed land surveys to gather data on the Earth's surface, including topography, boundaries, and land features.
• Utilize advanced surveying equipment and technology, such as GPS, total stations, and drones, to ensure precise measurements.
• Prepare and maintain accurate survey records, maps, and reports, documenting findings and methodologies used during surveys.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide essential data for project planning and execution.
• Analyze survey data to identify potential issues or discrepancies, providing solutions to ensure project success.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to land surveying and construction practices.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to verify the accuracy of survey data and assess project progress.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates and address any concerns related to surveying activities.
• Mentor and train junior surveyors and interns, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster professional development within the team.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in land surveying to enhance your skills and contribute to the company's success.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates for surveying projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and client expectations.
• Assist in the preparation of legal documents related to land ownership, easements, and property boundaries when necessary.

Requirements

• A degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, with a strong understanding of surveying principles and practices.
• Proficiency in using surveying software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar applications.
• Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their application in land surveying.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.

Nice to have

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification or equivalent licensure.
• Experience with drone surveying and photogrammetry techniques.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and their impact on land development projects.
• Familiarity with construction practices and project management principles.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in the use of surveying instruments, including total stations, levels, and GPS equipment.
• Experienced in data collection and analysis software, including AutoCAD and GIS applications.
• Strong technical skills in mathematics and geometry, essential for accurate surveying calculations.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to effectively manage surveying tasks and timelines.
