About the role

Bamboohr is currently seeking a Cost Control Engineer to join their growing team in Limassol, Cyprus. This is a full-time position that centers on the management and oversight of project costs from initial planning through project completion. The Cost Control Engineer will work in close partnership with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure that all financial targets are met and that spending remains within approved budget limits. The role requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze cost data, prepare clear financial reports, and communicate budget performance to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

What you'll do

• Monitor project budgets on a daily basis and track all expenditures against the approved cost baselines established at project kickoff
• Prepare detailed cost reports on a regular schedule that summarize budget performance, forecast updates, and variance analysis for project stakeholders
• Identify cost variances early by comparing actual spending against planned figures and recommend corrective actions to bring projects back within financial targets
• Collaborate directly with engineers and project managers to estimate costs associated with scope changes, design modifications, and unforeseen site conditions
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate cost databases that document all financial transactions, commitments, and forecasts for every active engineering project
• Support the development of cost forecasts and projections by analyzing current project performance data and historical spending patterns from completed projects
• Review procurement documents and vendor invoices carefully to verify that all charges align with the approved budgets and contractual terms
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and detailed cost analyses that support new project bids and competitive proposals
• Conduct trend analysis across multiple projects to identify recurring patterns in project spending and recommend process improvements for cost efficiency
• Coordinate with the finance department to ensure proper cost allocation, correct coding, and accurate reporting across all active project accounts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, or a related technical discipline is a fundamental requirement for this position
• Demonstrated experience working in cost control or project cost management within an engineering or construction environment is expected
• Strong working knowledge of budget preparation methods, cost tracking procedures, and variance analysis techniques is necessary
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications and financial reporting software commonly used in project-based engineering environments is required
• The ability to read and interpret technical project documentation and translate engineering scope into reliable cost estimates is essential
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting across multiple concurrent projects
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for presenting cost data clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
• A proactive approach to collaboration and the willingness to work across multiple project teams and departments to support cost objectives

Nice to have

• Familiarity with project management methodologies and standard frameworks used in engineering and construction organizations is a plus
• Prior experience with enterprise resource planning systems or dedicated project management software platforms would be beneficial
• Understanding of construction or infrastructure project cost structures including material, labor, and overhead allocation is helpful
• Professional certifications in cost management, project controls, or a related discipline would be considered a strong advantage
