Manager, Commodity & Energy Trading - US Power Markets

About the role

You own the full trading workflow from intake to shipping in US power markets. Every day you collaborate with energy leaders to simplify complex rules and volatile conditions. This role requires clear judgment and 3-5 years of experience shaping commercial outcomes. You translate volatile market signals into stable operational plans. The position demands rigorous analysis and a mindset focused on risk-aware execution. You act as a bridge between analytics, compliance, and commercial teams. Your decisions directly influence portfolio performance and client value.

What you'll do

Design intake processes that capture clean booking requests and validate trade details before execution.

Construct execution logic for physical power products across day-ahead and real-time market conditions.

Review settlement outputs and resolve mismatches between positions, flows, and nodal pricing signals.

Ship optimized schedules that align portfolio constraints with risk policies and operational reality.

Partner with analytics teams to embed new data views that clarify market behavior and support decisions.

Define intake criteria for new clients and product lines while safeguarding data integrity and audit trails.

Build automation that reduces manual steps in booking, validation, and confirmation workflows.

Review regulatory expectations and ensure documentation supports compliance with market rules.

Champion scenario analysis that tests the resilience of schedules under stress conditions.

Maintain detailed records of decisions to support audits, forecasts, and future process improvements.

Translate commercial targets into quantifiable constraints for trading systems.

Challenge existing workflows to uncover inefficiencies and drive measurable improvements.

Support the adoption of new tools by testing features and providing feedback to vendors.

Monitor execution quality and escalate issues that could lead to financial or compliance risk.

Contribute to the development of playbooks that standardize best practices across the team.

Requirements

You must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.

You need 3-5 years of energy commodities trading or risk experience in US power markets.

You must understand nodal pricing, congestion management, and transmission rules in relevant regions.

You need strong quantitative skills to interpret large datasets and translate them into operational insights.

You must communicate clearly with both technical teams and business stakeholders across hierarchies.

You are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding client data and internal strategies.

You must comply with all applicable internal policies, regulatory requirements, and market rules.

You should demonstrate consistent ethical judgment and integrity in all professional interactions.

You are required to work within the time zone constraints of the assigned engagement location.

You must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while coordinating across functions.

You should have a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.

You are expected to use company-approved tools and platforms for all trading activities.

Nice to have

Experience with ETRM platforms, Python, and data visualization tools is preferred.
