About the role
You will lead a portfolio of oncology accounts with significant growth potential, partnering with an established client base to deliver impactful publications and medical affairs programmes that advance patient outcomes. You will report directly to the Business Director, shaping account strategy and driving commercial execution to ensure the robust health and expansion of key relationships. This role owns the end-to-end delivery of high-value publications, accounting for approximately 70% of your focus, while balancing broader medical affairs responsibilities that reinforce our mission. You will lead and develop a high-performing, cross-functional team, fostering an environment of collaboration, accountability, and scientific excellence. As a senior leader, you will contribute to the wider leadership agenda, helping to define capability development and best practices across the unit. You will act as a strategic partner to clients, translating complex scientific and commercial needs into tailored programmes that deliver measurable value. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the overall success and growth of the oncology portfolio within our mission to reach every patient possible. You will leverage data and insights to drive decision-making, optimize account performance, and identify new opportunities for impactful engagement.

What you'll do
Lead a portfolio of oncology accounts, developing and executing strategic account plans that drive growth, value, and client satisfaction through publications and medical affairs programmes.
Partner with an established client base to design, deliver, and optimize high-impact publications and medical affairs initiatives that align with client objectives and enhance patient outcomes.
Provide leadership and oversight for a team of account professionals, setting clear direction, managing performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Shape and implement account strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with commercial priorities, scientific insights, and client expectations.
Drive the delivery of high-quality, strategically aligned programmes by coordinating scientific, commercial, and operational resources effectively and efficiently.
Act as a senior leader within the unit, contributing to the wider leadership agenda and helping to define best practices, capability development, and service excellence.
Monitor and analyze account performance, using insights to identify growth opportunities, mitigate risks, and optimize the value delivered to clients.
Work closely with the Business Director to ensure the overall health of oncology accounts, managing key relationships and ensuring successful commercial and scientific outcomes.
Lead and develop team members through coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities, building a high-performing, resilient, and inclusive team.
Represent Avalere Health as a trusted advisor to clients, demonstrating thought leadership in oncology and medical affairs through strategic insights and innovative programme design.
Contribute to the growth and success of the unit by supporting knowledge sharing, cross-sell initiatives, and the adoption of best practices across accounts.
Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, scientific rigor, and strategic alignment with client and business objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage data, insights, and market intelligence, driving evidence-based decisions that enhance programme effectiveness.
Support the development and implementation of tools, frameworks, and methodologies that strengthen Avalere Health's position as a leader in oncology advisory and medical affairs.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; a Master's degree or PhD is preferred but not required.
You must have a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare consulting, medical affairs, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
You must demonstrate a proven track record of managing and growing client portfolios in a consulting or advisory environment, particularly within oncology or complex therapeutic areas.
You must have strong experience in delivering medical affairs programmes, including publications, advisory boards, and educational initiatives.
You must have experience leading and developing cross-functional teams, with a history of building high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive groups.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly to senior stakeholders.
You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship, as this is a remote US-based role.
