QA Specialist (PowerBi)

Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated QA Specialist with expertise in PowerBi to join our dynamic team in Bengaluru, Karnataka. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our PowerBi reports and dashboards. You will work closely with data analysts and developers to identify issues, implement testing strategies, and enhance the overall user experience. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about data quality and has a keen eye for detail.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand reporting requirements and translate them into test cases for PowerBi dashboards and reports.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality, performance, and usability of PowerBi solutions.
• Identify, document, and track defects using issue tracking tools, ensuring timely resolution and retesting of issues.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure that new features do not adversely affect existing functionalities.
• Perform data validation to ensure accuracy and consistency of data presented in PowerBi reports.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of testing processes, test cases, and results to support quality assurance efforts.
• Participate in design and code reviews to provide input on testability and quality considerations.
• Stay updated on the latest PowerBi features and best practices to continuously improve testing methodologies and processes.
• Provide training and support to team members on quality assurance processes and tools.
• Assist in the development of automated testing scripts for PowerBi reports to enhance efficiency and coverage.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and make recommendations for improvements in reporting tools and processes.
• Contribute to a culture of quality within the organization by promoting best practices and encouraging a proactive approach to quality assurance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, specifically with PowerBi or similar BI tools.
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
• Proficiency in SQL for data validation and analysis.
• Experience with issue tracking tools such as JIRA or similar platforms.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey testing results and collaborate with team members.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with data visualization best practices and principles.
• Experience in automated testing frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
• Understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
• Previous experience in a SaaS environment or with cloud-based BI solutions.
