Staff Full Stack Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will own the full lifecycle of features that power the core claims workflows for some of the largest insurers in the world. This role centers on modernizing insurance claims processing by replacing manual, error-prone steps with reliable digital workflows. You will architect and deliver customer-facing experiences that bring clarity and comfort to claimants during stressful moments. You will also build the backend systems and data pipelines that enable large-scale ML-driven decision-making on billions of dollars in claims. In this position, you will use AI-assisted engineering to prototype faster, debug smarter, and automate repetitive tasks across the stack. You will mentor engineers, elevate technical standards, and help establish AI-native development as the default way your team works. Ultimately, you will shape how software is built and deployed, ensuring that quality, scalability, and speed are built into every release.
Key facts
What you'll do
Build end-to-end features across the frontend, backend, and infrastructure of our B2B SaaS platform, owning delivery from concept through production.
Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, ChatGPT, and Devin as part of your daily workflow to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
Identify and implement opportunities to integrate AI into our products and internal engineering processes to enhance customer experience and team productivity.
Write production-grade code that balances rapid delivery with long-term maintainability, reliability, and scalability across distributed systems.
Drive architectural decisions that reduce technical debt and enable faster product development while preserving long-term flexibility.
Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to translate requirements, customer feedback, and prototypes into intuitive and polished user experiences.
Mentor engineers at all levels, providing thoughtful feedback and leadership that raises the technical bar across the organization.
Champion modern engineering practices including automation, observability, AI-enabled workflows, and continuous experimentation to improve reliability and throughput.
Design and implement systems that handle high-volume claims data while ensuring security, compliance, and performance standards.
Optimize the developer experience by building internal tools and workflows that remove friction and enable faster iteration.
Evaluate emerging technologies and determine when and how they can be adopted to solve real business problems effectively.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
Monitor production systems, analyze key metrics, and drive improvements that increase resilience and reduce operational risk.
Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and best practices that help the entire engineering team scale efficiently.
Requirements
8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong background in SaaS or large-scale web applications.
Demonstrated ability to design, build, and operate complex systems end-to-end across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data layers.
Strong proficiency with modern AI engineering tools and workflows, actively using AI to code, debug, research, prototype, document, and improve productivity.
A proven bias toward execution and iteration, delivering working software quickly without sacrificing quality or long-term maintainability.
Exceptional product and UX instincts, with a commitment to building systems that are performant, reliable, and easy for users to navigate.
Solid systems thinking and technical judgment to balance short-term needs with long-term scalability, maintainability, and security.
Collaborative and low-ego approach, working effectively with engineering, product, and design teams to solve difficult problems.
Adaptability over rigid specialization, thriving in a fast-changing environment and learning new tools and technologies quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, and modern software development practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
Understanding of data pipelines, observability, and monitoring to ensure reliable and performant production systems.
Familiarity with security and compliance considerations relevant to insurance and sensitive customer data.
A track record of mentoring and influencing engineers without relying on formal authority.
Nice to have
Profound experience with AI-assisted development workflows and tooling that significantly accelerates delivery.
Deep experience building and operating large-scale, ML-driven systems in production environments.
Background working with insurance claims data, workflows, and regulatory constraints.
Contributions to open-source projects or public-facing tools that demonstrate engineering excellence.
