What you'll do

• Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of research projects across various disciplines at Ashesi, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals.
• Collaborate with faculty members to identify research opportunities and secure funding from external sources, including grants and partnerships.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of research management processes.
• Facilitate training and professional development programs for faculty and staff to improve research skills and methodologies.
• Monitor and report on research progress, outcomes, and impacts to university leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, promoting a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing within the university.
• Manage the research budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and in accordance with institutional policies.
• Serve as a liaison between Ashesi and external research organizations, government agencies, and funding bodies to enhance the university's research profile.
• Provide guidance on ethical considerations and compliance related to research activities, ensuring adherence to institutional and national standards.
• Organize and participate in research conferences, workshops, and seminars to showcase Ashesi's research achievements and facilitate networking opportunities.
• Lead initiatives to promote the dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and community engagement.
• Support the university's strategic planning efforts by providing insights and recommendations based on research trends and developments.

Requirements

• A master's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as social sciences, natural sciences, or engineering.
• A minimum of five years of experience in research management or a related role, preferably within an academic or research institution.
• Proven track record of successfully managing research projects, including experience with grant writing and funding acquisition.
• Strong understanding of research methodologies and ethical standards in research practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and developing research teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis and research reporting tools, with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Familiarity with the higher education landscape in Ghana and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in research.

• Experience with international research collaborations or partnerships.
• Knowledge of specific funding agencies and their requirements relevant to research in Ghana.
• Familiarity with research impact assessment frameworks and methodologies.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in various research management software and tools, including project management applications, data analysis software, and grant management systems. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets are essential. Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms for remote collaboration will also be beneficial.

This position is based in Berekuso, Eastern Region, and is a full-time role. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
