Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with artists and developers to create and maintain art pipelines that optimize the production process.
- Develop and implement shaders, materials, and visual effects that enhance the overall aesthetic of our games.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets, ensuring they meet performance standards across various platforms.
- Conduct regular performance analysis of art assets and provide feedback to the art team to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Create and maintain documentation for art processes and tools, facilitating knowledge sharing among team members.
- Assist in the integration of art assets into game engines, ensuring that they are implemented correctly and function as intended.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and techniques to continually improve our art production processes.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas and solutions to enhance project outcomes.
- Mentor junior artists and provide guidance on technical aspects of art production, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Work closely with the QA team to identify and resolve any visual bugs or inconsistencies in the game.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as design and programming, to ensure cohesive project development and execution.
- Engage in regular testing and iteration of visual elements to ensure they align with the overall vision and gameplay experience.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical art role within the gaming industry.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max, along with experience in game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Strong understanding of shader programming and visual effects creation, with a solid grasp of rendering techniques.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques for art assets, including texture atlasing and LOD management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or MEL for automating tasks and improving workflows.
- Experience in VR/AR development, particularly in optimizing assets for immersive experiences.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git or Perforce to manage asset changes effectively.
- Previous experience in mentoring or leading a team of artists in a collaborative environment.
- A portfolio showcasing a range of technical art work, including shaders, effects, and optimized assets.
