What you'll do
- Collaborate with game designers, artists, and developers to create and implement high-quality sound effects that align with the artistic vision of our projects.
- Design and produce original audio assets, including sound effects, ambient sounds, and dialogue, ensuring they meet the technical and creative requirements of the game.
- Utilize industry-standard software and tools for sound design, such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, or similar, to craft and refine audio elements.
- Conduct field recordings and gather audio samples to enrich the sound library and provide unique auditory experiences.
- Implement audio assets into game engines, ensuring proper integration and functionality within the gameplay environment.
- Work closely with the QA team to troubleshoot and resolve any audio-related issues that may arise during development.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in sound design, continuously seeking ways to enhance your skills and contribute innovative ideas to the team.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative discussions, providing insights on how sound can enhance gameplay mechanics and narrative elements.
- Create and maintain documentation related to audio assets, including naming conventions, file organization, and version control.
- Assist in the development of audio design guidelines and best practices for the team, promoting consistency and quality across all projects.
- Mentor junior sound designers and interns, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their growth within the field.
- Contribute to the overall sound branding of Arvore, ensuring that our audio identity is cohesive and recognizable across all titles.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in sound design, preferably within the gaming or interactive media industry.
- Proficiency in digital audio workstations (DAWs) and sound design software, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Solid understanding of audio principles, including sound theory, acoustics, and audio mixing techniques.
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, particularly in implementing audio assets.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for video games and an understanding of how sound influences player engagement and storytelling.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with programming languages or scripting related to audio implementation, such as C# or Blueprints.
- Experience in voice-over direction and recording, including working with voice actors.
- Knowledge of spatial audio techniques and immersive sound design for VR/AR applications.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in audio editing and mixing software, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or similar.
- Experience with field recording equipment and techniques for capturing high-quality audio.
- Understanding of audio middleware tools like Wwise or FMOD for integrating sound into games.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
