What you'll do

Define and maintain the product vision and roadmap for assigned product areas within the Appian platform

Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize features, write user stories, and refine technical requirements

Gather and analyze customer feedback and market research to identify new product opportunities and improvements

Work with sales and customer success teams to understand client pain points and translate them into product solutions

Create and maintain detailed product documentation including PRDs, competitive analyses, and feature specifications

Lead cross-functional product reviews and sprint planning sessions to ensure alignment across stakeholders

Conduct A/B testing and analyze product usage data to inform feature decisions and measure success

Manage the full product lifecycle from ideation through launch, including go-to-market strategy coordination

Represent the product team in executive reviews and company-wide planning sessions

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure product alignment

Partner with quality assurance teams to define acceptance criteria and ensure product quality standards are met before release

Monitor competitor offerings and industry trends to ensure Appian maintains a strong market position and differentiated value proposition

Coordinate with marketing teams to develop product positioning, messaging, and launch plans for new features

Track product performance through defined KPIs and present regular progress reports to leadership and cross-functional partners

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

7 or more years of experience in product management, preferably in enterprise software or platform products

Strong understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and technical architecture

Proven track record of successfully shipping complex features and products in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences

Experience working with distributed teams across multiple time zones and locations

Ability to balance competing priorities and make data-driven product decisions under ambiguity

Deep familiarity with low-code or workflow automation platforms and their ecosystem

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple product initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality

Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt priorities quickly in response to changing business needs

Nice to have

Experience with cloud-native application development and microservices architecture

Knowledge of process mining, robotic process automation, or intelligent document processing technologies

Prior experience managing a team of product managers or leading a product pod

Familiarity with Appian's platform or similar low-code development environments

Background in enterprise SaaS products with large-scale deployments and complex integrations

Understanding of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and data privacy regulations relevant to enterprise software

Skills & tools

Proficiency in product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Aha

Experience with analytics platforms like Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Google Analytics

Familiarity with API design, RESTful services, and integration patterns

Strong skills in SQL and data analysis for product decision-making

Comfortable with wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma or Balsamiq

Experience with version control systems and basic command-line operations

Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code concepts

Strong presentation and storytelling abilities to effectively communicate product strategy and vision to diverse audiences

This role is based in Appian's Chennai office and requires on-site presence during regular business hours

The Senior Technical Product Manager will report to a Director of Product or VP of Product
