Machine Translation Evaluation - English to Spanish
Job description
Machine Translation Evaluation - English to Spanish at Appen.
About the role
We are currently seeking native Spanish speakers to participate in a critical evaluation initiative under Project Vistula, where your linguistic expertise will be directly applied to the analysis of automated translation outputs. In this capacity, you will own the entire quality assurance workflow for English to Spanish machine translation, determining how closely rendered outputs meet standards of accuracy and idiomatic correctness. The role grants you ownership over the calibration of translation quality by identifying specific errors in grammar, syntax, and semantic meaning that affect the integrity of the source message. You will act as a gatekeeper for language integrity, ensuring that the final deliverables meet the rigorous expectations of professional communication standards. This project places the responsibility of linguistic validation squarely on your shoulders, requiring you to exercise consistent judgment without reliance on automated scoring alone. You will own the narrative of improvement by providing actionable feedback that directly trains and refines the underlying translation engine. As an independent contractor, you will manage your schedule and workload within the project framework, ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed with a high degree of self-direction. Your contributions will be measured by the precision of your evaluations and the clarity of the insights you provide to the engineering team.
