About the role

You will serve as a technical advisor helping state and local government agencies integrate Claude into their existing technology stacks. This pre-sales role requires you to bridge the gap between complex mission requirements and scalable AI architecture while ensuring safety and reliability. You will act as a critical thought partner, translating ambiguous policy and operational constraints into coherent technical strategies. The position demands a balance of deep technical acumen and consultative selling to public sector stakeholders. You will own the technical narrative from initial scoping through solution validation and long-term optimization. Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving government environments. You are expected to champion best practices for AI governance, security, and responsible deployment within the public sector.

What you'll do

• Partner with account executives to align customer business goals with technical implementation strategies.
• Manage the full customer adoption lifecycle, from initial technical discovery and evaluation to final deployment.
• Assist customers in building solutions using Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise.
• Develop and present technical content for diverse audiences, ranging from engineering teams to executive leadership.
• Design and guide technical architecture decisions for enterprise system integrations.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure the performance of AI models for specific government use cases.
• Provide feedback to internal product and engineering teams based on common integration patterns observed in the field.
• Travel to customer sites for workshops and relationship management.
• Conduct technical deep dives to assess feasibility and risk for proposed AI initiatives.
• Translate complex model capabilities into clear requirements for procurement and legal teams.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to validate that solutions meet government standards.
• Facilitate proof-of-concept exercises that demonstrate tangible value to decision-makers.
• Document architectural choices and trade-offs to ensure continuity and reproducibility.
• Mentor junior team members on effective communication with public sector organizations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager.
• Prior experience working with US federal, state, or local government agencies.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Experience navigating complex buying cycles with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to design scalable cloud architectures and integrate with enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays, to support client engagements in the Washington, DC area and beyond.
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding government and client sensitive information.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Understanding of security and compliance considerations relevant to public sector AI deployments.
• Openness to feedback and collaboration with internal engineering and product teams.
• Legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements for this specific role.
• Professional presence and communication skills suitable for interactions with senior government officials.
