What you'll do

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial statements in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
• Conduct thorough reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide insights that drive business performance and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance reports to support management in financial planning and decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns, and liaise with external auditors during audits.
• Develop and implement internal controls to enhance the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting processes.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting professional development.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and competitive.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of financial software systems to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
• Prepare financial reports for stakeholders, including management and board members, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as required, contributing to the overall financial strategy of the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of local and international accounting principles and regulations.
• Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Experience in the technology or consulting sectors is a plus.
• Familiarity with financial modeling and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Mongolian tax laws and regulations.
• Experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Skills & tools

• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for financial analysis.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for reporting purposes.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and software quickly.
