What you'll do

Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement water resource management projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess water flow and quality in various environments.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation for project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
Participate in field surveys and data collection efforts to gather essential information for project planning and execution.
Analyze data related to water resources, including streamflow, groundwater levels, and water quality parameters.
Support the development of sustainable water management strategies, including stormwater management and flood control measures.
Engage with clients and community members to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into project designs.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in water resource engineering to enhance project outcomes.
Contribute to team meetings and brainstorming sessions, bringing innovative ideas to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, planners, and construction professionals, to achieve project goals.
Participate in professional development opportunities, including training sessions and workshops, to enhance your skills and knowledge in water resource engineering.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
A foundational understanding of water resource engineering principles and practices.
Familiarity with hydrological modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) and GIS applications.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
A commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.

Nice to have

Internship or co-op experience in water resource engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Experience with AutoCAD or other design software.
Familiarity with water quality monitoring and assessment techniques.
Membership in professional organizations such as ASCE or AWWA.

Skills & tools

The ideal candidate will be proficient in various software tools and possess strong analytical skills. Familiarity with hydrological modeling software, GIS applications, and design tools such as AutoCAD will be beneficial. Additionally, strong communication skills are essential for effectively conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Practical notes

This position is based in Seattle, Washington, and may require occasional travel for fieldwork and site assessments.
