Staff Product Manager, Hazel AI
Job description
About the role
You own the end-to-end product management and growth strategy for Hazel AI, the AI engine that unlocks 10x growth and efficiency for financial advisors in a regulated industry. You define the metrics that matter across the entire user lifecycle, from discovery and signup to activation, retention, sharing, monetization, and expansion. You will run a high-velocity experiment program to identify leaks in the PLG funnel and ship improvements that move numbers. You are the DRI for turning curious advisors into power users and paying customers into vocal advocates for the platform. You partner closely with Sales, Marketing, and broader product teams to sharpen segmentation, demand generation, and value proposition clarity. You will stand up and own the Hazel customer community as a retention moat and feedback channel. This role is hybrid, requiring four in-office days per week at our San Francisco FiDi location.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define the North Star metrics and guardrails for the Hazel PLG funnel, aligning sign up, onboarding, activation, retention, sharing, monetization, and expansion around a single coherent growth strategy.
Instrument every stage of the user journey with event schemas and dashboards, then use qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify the biggest leaks and highest impact experiments.
Design and ship activation experiences that deliver a clear "wow" moment in the first session, reducing time to value for new advisors and proving product value rapidly.
Build and optimize viral and team-based growth loops, discovering natural sharing moments and designing referral and invite mechanics that turn every paying customer into a distribution channel.
Own monetization experiments in partnership with product and finance, testing pricing, packaging, paywalls, and upgrade paths to increase free-to-paid conversion, ARPU, and expansion revenue without degrading user experience.
Establish a structured customer community for paying advisors, enabling them to share workflows, templates, and wins while using the community as a retention moat and top-of-funnel engine.
Partner deeply with Sales and Marketing to sharpen segmentation, build top-of-funnel demand, and communicate the Hazel value proposition in a way that resonates with advisors under pressure to modernize.
Own the roadmap for the Hazel PLG engine, prioritizing initiatives that compound growth, efficiency, and retention while balancing regulatory constraints and operational risk.
Run a continuous experimentation cadence, defining hypotheses, success metrics, and rollback criteria to move fast yet safely in a regulated environment.
Translate advisor workflows and qualitative insights into product requirements that engineering can execute, ensuring clarity, measurability, and alignment on outcomes.
Collaborate with data and analytics to set up cohort analyses, retention curves, and funnel reports that inform decision making and reveal downstream impacts of upstream changes.
Work with Customer Success to design in-product prompts, tooltips, and onboarding flows that scale personalized guidance without increasing headcount.
Establish guardrails and documentation standards for growth experiments to ensure compliance, auditability, and reproducibility over time.
Champion a culture of evidence-based decision making, using dashboards and experiments to back hunches with data and communicate results to stakeholders.

You must be comfortable working in a regulated industry and understand the implications of compliance, risk, and auditability for product decisions.
