We are currently experiencing significant growth and are seeking passionate Staff Back End Engineers to join our engineering organization. These roles offer high impact and high visibility, with our recruitment team dedicated to finding the best fit for your career development. This position is hybrid, requiring three days per week in our Culver City office.
This position is centered on leadership and stewardship within the engineering organization. You will be responsible for architecting and maintaining the backend systems that power advisor workflows from start to finish. Your work will directly influence how our platform handles complex challenges and user interactions. Success in this role requires a blend of technical excellence, mentorship, and a commitment to best practices.
Your Core Impact
Your daily responsibilities will focus on designing and maintaining the critical infrastructure of our platform. You will act as a leader in both technical execution and team development.
- Architecting and developing event-driven pipelines that ensure financial data is processed securely and with high reliability.
- Designing and managing integrations with external data providers as well as our internal suite of microservices.
- Leading code reviews to uplift the overall quality of our codebase and facilitate knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
- Releasing features behind feature flags, which allows for controlled rollouts and safe experimentation with new capabilities.
- Collaborating closely with advisors and product partners to refine requirements and validate proposed solutions.
- Developing and maintaining automated data pipelines to ensure analytics remain current and trustworthy for decision-makers.
- Creating prototypes to explore new capabilities, demonstrating value before committing to large-scale builds.
- Working alongside product and design teams to help define the roadmap for client-facing tools.
What We Seek in a Candidate
We are looking for engineers who have a proven track record of building sophisticated, distributed systems. Your experience should reflect a deep understanding of engineering principles and a passion for clean, maintainable code.
- A minimum of eight years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on building precise and scalable distributed systems.
- A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrated expertise in writing Java and Spring Boot, along with designing production-grade microservices on AWS.
- Operational proficiency in managing Postgres, Kubernetes, and broader cloud infrastructure.
- The ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, balancing data-driven arguments with empathy and clarity.
