About the role
This role owns the end to end outbound sales cycle for the early growth of Alternative Payments. The Business Development Representative will be the first point of contact for hundreds of potential customers and will define the quality of the pipeline that the organization relies on. You will own the full responsibility of identifying and creating new business opportunities through high volume outbound prospecting. This position requires a high level of discipline, curiosity, and resilience to engage with C level stakeholders inside MSPs and related fintech ecosystems. You will be instrumental in building a repeatable outbound playbook that scales as the company grows. This role is ideal for someone who wants to master outbound sales and grow into a future Account Executive or revenue leadership path. You will be measured by your ability to generate qualified meetings, convert insights into compelling messaging, and consistently hit demanding activity targets.

What you'll do
- Outbound Pipeline Creation: Own prospecting into targeted accounts through cold calling (80 - 100/day), email, and social outreach. Research accounts, personalize messaging, and consistently generate qualified meetings that convert into pipeline.
- Structured Execution: Operate with discipline and consistency against daily activity targets. Maintain accurate CRM hygiene, track performance metrics, and continuously test and refine outreach strategies.
- Product & Industry Fluency: Develop a strong understanding of Alternative Payments' platform and the Managed Service Provider (MSP) ecosystem. Stay curious about fintech trends and emerging tools (including AI!) that improve outbound effectiveness.
- Sales Strategy Collaboration: Work closely with Account Executives and sales leadership to refine messaging, share market feedback, and contribute to scalable outbound strategies.
- Team Contribution: Participate actively in coaching, training, and peer collaboration to continuously elevate individual and team performance.
- Market Intelligence: Gather and document insights from customer conversations to inform product positioning, competitive differentiation, and messaging updates.
- Target Expansion: Identify and prioritize new segments within the MSP ecosystem and adjacent verticals to expand the addressable market for the platform.
- Process Optimization: Refine the end to end prospecting workflow, from initial contact to meeting booking, ensuring a smooth handoff to the sales team.
- Data Informed Decisions: Use CRM and analytics to identify patterns in engagement, conversion, and drop off, then adjust tactics accordingly.
- Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to all company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards in every interaction with prospects and partners.
- Cross Functional Support: Collaborate with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align messaging, improve collateral, and support go to market initiatives.
- Pipeline Ownership: Take full ownership of the outbound pipeline from first touch to qualified opportunity, ensuring clear visibility and forecasting accuracy.
- Learning Agility: Rapidly absorb new information about fintech, payment processing, and sales methodologies to stay ahead of industry shifts.
- Communication Excellence: Craft clear, concise, and persuasive messages across email, phone, and social channels tailored to the target audience.
- Results Orientation: Maintain a high standard of accountability for hitting activity and pipeline goals, even in the face of rejection and high volume outreach.
Requirements
- Must be located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as this is a hybrid position requiring candidates to come into the Downtown Toronto office 3-4 days per week (Monday through Wednesday or similar schedule).
- Demonstrated ability to handle high volume outbound activities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Comfortable with frequent rejection and resilient in challenging sales environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail in documentation.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities, contacts, and data points in a CRM.
- Coachable mindset with a willingness to implement feedback quickly and adapt strategies based on results.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding activity and performance targets in previous roles.
- Experience maintaining accurate, clean, and actionable records in a CRM system.
- Genuine curiosity about technology, fintech, and tools that improve sales effectiveness, including AI applications.
- Interest in building a long term career in sales, with potential to grow into leadership roles over time.

Practical notes
- This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work from the Downtown Toronto office 3-4 days per week (Monday through Wednesday or similar schedule).
- Total compensation for this role is $80k CAD, consisting of a $60k base and an uncapped bonus of $20k.
- The position reports to the sales leadership team and is part of the early growth stage go to market organization.
- Success in this role depends on consistent execution, accurate data management, and the ability to scale outreach efforts while maintaining quality.
