About the role
As a Senior Platform Manager within our Business Technology division, you will serve as the central authority for the accounting infrastructure that underpins Airbnb's global financial operations. You will be tasked with steering the platform's evolution, ensuring that our high-volume transactional data remains precise, scalable, and compliant as the company introduces new business models. This role requires a strategic mindset to balance immediate operational demands with long-term architectural improvements, bridging the gap between complex financial requirements and engineering execution.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement a comprehensive, long-term product strategy for our finance accounting platform to facilitate global expansion and support innovative business initiatives.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of integrating new product launches into our accounting ecosystem, conducting thorough impact assessments and ensuring successful production deployment.
- Act as the primary gatekeeper for the platform's development funnel, meticulously prioritizing incoming requests and navigating competing business interests to maximize value.
- Drive the modernization of data pipelines by identifying bottlenecks, automating repetitive operational workflows, and enhancing the overall integrity and reliability of our financial data.
- Foster deep collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across Payments, Trust, Pricing, and Finance departments to guarantee the accuracy of financial recording across all touchpoints.
- Direct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts to validate system performance and reliability before major releases.
- Proactively troubleshoot complex data anomalies and system discrepancies to ensure the smooth execution of critical month-end close processes.
- Translate intricate financial requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering teams, ensuring alignment between business goals and platform capabilities.
- Establish and maintain rigorous data quality standards, implementing automated monitoring and reconciliation processes to minimize manual intervention.
- Represent the platform team in high-level planning sessions, providing visibility into roadmap progress and technical debt management to senior leadership.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in technical program management, product management, or platform management, specifically within the domain of accounting and finance data.
- Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or Accounting.
- Deep, hands-on subject matter expertise regarding ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and the intricacies of the end-to-end quote-to-cash lifecycle.
- A demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex roadmaps involving diverse, cross-functional stakeholders within a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Substantial experience working with B2C product workflows in high-volume, high-scale technology environments where data accuracy is paramount.
- Exceptional communication and influencing capabilities, with the ability to articulate sophisticated technical concepts to both engineering partners and finance executives.
Nice to have
- Practical experience working with large-scale ERP systems, specifically Oracle Financial Accounting Hub (FAH) or General Ledger modules.
- Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging modern AI and machine learning tools to enhance analytical workflows and drive process automation.
- Prior experience in a high-growth startup or a global tech company with complex multi-currency transaction requirements.
Skills & tools
- Advanced SQL proficiency, including the ability to write complex queries, perform deep-dive aggregations, and debug data issues.
- Solid understanding of big data principles, including distributed processing, the differences between batch and streaming architectures, and data lake/warehouse design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of transactional data structures, including event-driven architectures, ACID compliance, audit trail maintenance, and multi-currency handling.
- Expertise in data pipeline management, including setting up SLA monitoring, implementing automated data quality checks, and managing reconciliation logic.
- Proficiency in standard enterprise collaboration software, including Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom.
