About the role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the core team responsible for the development of our humanoid robot platform. In this capacity, you will own the complete lifecycle management of electronic hardware, ensuring robust design and reliable operation in real-world conditions. You will act as the primary electrical authority for critical subsystems, translating high-level software requirements into stable physical implementations. This role requires close collaboration with software engineers to synchronize hardware capabilities with the demands of our ROS2 software environment. You will be instrumental in defining the electrical architecture that underpins the robot's mobility, manipulation, and sensing functions. The position involves significant responsibility for both initial prototyping and the long-term maintainability of production hardware solutions. You will drive the technical decisions that ensure our systems meet stringent performance, safety, and quality standards.

What you'll do
- Create and evaluate electrical schematics for power distribution networks, sensor processing units, and motor actuator controllers.
- Execute PCB bring-up procedures, conducting rigorous functional testing and iterative troubleshooting for custom hardware assemblies.
- Architect and implement power distribution strategies, system-level grounding schemes, and comprehensive circuit protection mechanisms.
- Establish electrical connections and configure critical sensors including inertial measurement units, motor encoders, and force/torque sensing elements.
- Diagnose and resolve complex signal integrity challenges, electromagnetic interference issues, and communication faults across protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Contribute directly to the hardware launch activities for new gripper configurations and robotic actuator modules.
- Validate electrical designs against system-level requirements, ensuring compliance with performance metrics and operational tolerances.
- Support the development of test procedures and diagnostic tools used to verify hardware functionality throughout the production process.
- Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to resolve cross-disciplinary integration challenges affecting electrical systems.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and sharing best practices in electronic design and debug methodologies.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Demonstrate proven expertise in printed circuit board development and complex schematic diagram design.
- Show advanced proficiency with analog and digital sensor interfaces, power electronics circuits, and motor driver systems.
- Possess hands-on experience implementing and debugging communication protocols including Ethernet/UDP, Controller Area Network, Inter-Integrated Circuit, Serial Peripheral Interface, and Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter.
- Have practical experience using measurement instruments such as digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes for systematic troubleshooting.
- Show familiarity with real-time hardware constraints and the development of embedded systems within strict timing budgets.
- Hold the right to work or reside in Germany without sponsorship requirements for this position.
- Be capable of working full-time hours in the Munich office environment as specified by the company policy.
Nice to have
- Possess a background in motion control systems or robotics-specific electronic architectures.
- Have direct experience with motor control platforms such as ODrive open-source controllers or Dynamixel intelligent servos.
- Understand electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference mitigation standards relevant to industrial equipment.
- Have previous work history on systems that integrate Robot Operating System 2 for robot software frameworks.

- The position is based in Munich, Germany, which is the primary headquarters location for Agile Robots SE.
- Full-time engagement is required, with standard working hours as defined by German labor regulations.
- Compensation includes a monthly net allowance of 100 Euro intended to cover health, learning, and mobility related expenses.
