What you'll do
- Develop detailed test plans for individual robotic components such as sensors, actuators, and control modules, as well as integrated robotic systems.
- Execute hardware and software validation procedures on actual robotic platforms to ensure system performance aligns with specifications.
- Create and maintain Python scripts and automation frameworks to streamline testing processes, improve test coverage, and facilitate repeatability.
- Write C++ code to support low-level tooling, system integration, and custom testing solutions, ensuring compatibility with existing hardware and software components.
- Analyze system behavior during testing to identify issues related to motion planning, kinematics, control algorithms, and perception systems.
- Troubleshoot complex errors such as trajectory instability, joint limit violations, singularities, and other anomalies affecting robotic performance.
- Validate system configurations using URDF models and coordinate transformations to ensure accurate modeling and simulation of robotic movements.
- Assist in creating application demos and customer-facing showcases by testing and refining robotic functionalities in real-world scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electronics, and software teams to replicate bugs, verify fixes, and improve overall system robustness.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, defect reports, and system performance metrics to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in field testing, prototype validation, and system integration tasks to ensure readiness for deployment and customer demonstrations.
- Support the development of testing procedures that comply with safety standards and industry best practices for robotics systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in system validation, hardware/software integration, or robotics testing roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in automation, data analysis, and robot interaction scripting.
- Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals, including dynamics, kinematics, motion constraints, and control systems.
- Proven experience validating integrated hardware and software modules within robotic systems.
- Ability to manage regression testing, edge-case scenarios, and real-world operational testing to ensure system robustness.
- Excellent debugging skills across both hardware and software layers, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and issue tracking tools like JIRA.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have
- Experience developing robotics demos for customers or internal teams to showcase system capabilities.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, as well as automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with motion planning algorithms, perception systems, or sensor integration techniques.
- Background in Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or Software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing methodologies.
- Understanding of robotics safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Skills in data visualization, performance benchmarking, or system monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as German or Mandarin to facilitate communication with diverse teams and clients.
