Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct thorough material takeoffs for various commercial masonry projects, including but not limited to concrete masonry units (CMU), brick, and cast iron.
- Develop accurate and detailed bid estimates for significant projects managed by general contractors.
- Focus on completing projects throughout the southeastern United States, with a particular emphasis on states such as Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.
- Produce comprehensive documentation for takeoffs that will support the submission of bids.
- Collaborate with team members remotely to ensure that all project deadlines are consistently met.
- Review project specifications and drawings to ensure all estimates are aligned with client expectations and project requirements.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in all estimates, ensuring that all bid information is reliable and precise.
- Participate in regular meetings with project managers and other stakeholders to discuss project progress and any potential issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices to continuously improve estimating processes.
- Assist in training junior estimators and providing mentorship as necessary to enhance team capabilities.
- Prepare reports and presentations related to estimates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating methodologies and tools used within the company.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in estimating construction projects within the United States.
- A degree in civil engineering or comparable experience in masonry or construction estimating is preferred.
- Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with team members and clients.
- Strong knowledge of commercial masonry takeoff techniques and methodologies.
- Ability to work remotely while adhering to the US Central Time Zone schedule.
- Willingness to start with test projects to demonstrate your capabilities and fit for the role.
- A proven track record of delivering accurate and reliable bid information.
- Experience specifically related to commercial construction projects in the US is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- A history of providing precise estimates that result in successful and competitive bids.
- Familiarity with materials and methods associated with CMU, brick, and cast iron masonry.
- An understanding of the processes involved with subcontractors and interactions with general contractors.
- Capability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of quality in all deliverables.
- Previous experience in a remote work environment is a plus.
