What you'll do
- Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry standards.
- Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify adherence during construction.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address any discrepancies or issues that arise during the construction process.
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports outlining compliance or non-compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor the quality of materials used in construction and ensure they meet project requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in project meetings to provide updates on inspection findings and discuss any potential impacts on project timelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures to enhance project outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to construction teams to promote best practices in safety and quality assurance.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that corrective actions have been implemented effectively.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve inspection processes.

- Support training and mentoring of junior inspectors and interns to build a knowledgeable and skilled inspection team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil inspection or a related role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including local building codes and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey inspection findings and collaborate with team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and recommend solutions promptly.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and software for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Nice to have
- Certification as a Civil Inspector or related professional certification (e.g., ICC, NICET).
- Experience with specific construction types such as residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green construction standards.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with construction safety practices and risk management strategies.
