What you'll do

• Conduct thorough inspections of welding processes and completed welds to ensure compliance with AWS standards and project specifications.
• Review and interpret welding procedures, specifications, and codes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify potential issues and recommend solutions to improve welding quality.
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of welding activities, including non-conformance reports and corrective actions.
• Provide training and guidance to welding personnel on best practices and quality standards to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Participate in internal and external audits to assess compliance with welding standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans and procedures related to welding operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and changes in regulations to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
• Perform root cause analysis for welding defects and collaborate with teams to implement effective corrective actions.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders regarding inspection findings and recommendations.
• Support the continuous improvement of welding processes and quality management systems within the organization.
• Foster a culture of safety and quality within the workplace by promoting best practices and compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and materials, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including AWS D1.1, ASME, and API.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to assess welding quality and identify defects.
• Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, gauges, and ultrasonic testing devices.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey inspection results and collaborate with team members.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing quality issues.

Nice to have

• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as radiographic or magnetic particle testing.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and quality management systems.
• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a welding or quality assurance team.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
